POSITION SUMMARY:

The Department of Family Medicine at USF Morsani College of Medicine is seeking a full time Residency Core Faculty member for Inpatient Education of our residents. Applicants must be board certified in Family Medicine with at least 2-3 years of experience of both inpatient and outpatient patient care and some experience in residency education. Applicant must be licensed in Florida or eligible.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• TEACHING: Oversight of residents in the inpatient setting and precepting in the outpatient settings. Active participation as a full scope FM practitioner with primary responsibility of the inpatient curriculum. Participation the didactic curriculum as a whole.
• RESEARCH: Participation in the submission of scholarly projects within the department and working with residents to bring new research opportunities to the department.
• ADMINISTRATIVE: Active participation in the development, planning, implementation and execution of the USF-TGH FM Residency program as a core faculty member.
• CLINICAL: Both inpatient and outpatient sessions in a designed rotation in cluding but not limited to the FMP and Tampa General Hospital.
• ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF POSITION: Responsible to a Chair or other appropriate higher-level administrator of a State university. Responsible for teaching, research, service, and related administrative activities.Responsible for academic advising and related activities.May represent the university, college/school, or department.
• OTHER DUTIES:Other duties as assigned.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

MINIMUM:

• Requires M.D. or equivalent and board certification in Family Medicine. Eligibility for a full, unrestricted Florida medical license is a must.
• Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate, or Full Professor.
• 2-3 years of clinical experience in the inpatient and outpatient settings as a Family Medicine practitioner.
• For Associate/Full Professor - Normally will have produced creative work, professional writing or research in refereed and other professional journals.

PREFERRED:

• Experience working in an accredited GME program.
