We are enabling many of the industry’s leading wind turbine original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to outsource the manufacturing of a larger portion of their wind blades, thus expanding their global wind blade capacity. About the Role  


The Leader, Non-Destructive Testing oversees and coordinates day-to-day testing of the integrity and safety of composite structures using non-destructive testing techniques to ensure the quality and integrity in the manufacture of our products.


 Essential Duties and Responsibilities 



  • Interpret or evaluate test results in accordance with applicable codes, standards, specifications, or procedures. 

  • Interpret the results of all methods of non-destructive testing (NDT) such as ultrasonic, thermal or infrared, and visual testing. 

  • Create calibration samples in accordance with applicable codes and standards

  • Select, calibrate, or operate equipment used in the non-destructive testing (NDT) of products or materials in accordance with applicable standards.

  • Examine structures such as blades, and components using non-destructive testing (NDT) techniques. 

  • Identify defects in blades or other components using ultrasonic testing. 

  • Map the presence of imperfections within objects using ultrasonic measurements 

  • Visually examine materials, structures, or components using tools and equipment such as borescopes and closed-circuit television systems (car camera) for signs of insufficient bond, bond voids, cracks, wrinkles or other flaws

  • Analyze A, B, C scan ultrasonic results to detect flaws in objects while leaving objects intact. 

  • Prepare reports on non-destructive testing (NDT) results. 

  • Document non-destructive testing (NDT) methods, processes, or results. 

  • Develop or use new non-destructive testing (NDT) methods such as ultrasonic testing, laser shearography, and thermal or infrared testing. 

  • Supervisory Responsibilities:                                                            


Directly supervises Non-Destructive Test Technicians. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. 


Who we’re looking for: 



  • High School diploma or GED required, bachelor's degree preferred; 2 years of previous relevant interpretation/translation experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

  • Proficient fluency in English and Spanish at a level that ensures accurate and understandable interpretation.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of personal and/or sensitive information.

  • Previous experience working in a manufacturing or industrial service environment is preferred but not required.

  • Expectation to wear, protective equipment including such as eye protection, safety shoes, and hearing protection.

  • Computer systems proficiency, including web-based applications and Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Strong communication skills, including, oral, written, and communication skills.

  • Willingness and ability to travel to the field (domestic U.S.) if required.

This position is on site at our wind blade manufacturing site in Newton, Iowa.
