What you'll do...
This role requires a tech-savvy professional with a deep understanding of engineering competencies and project management. The candidate must be proficient in the automation systems they're responsible for, capable of identifying crucial tasks, and able to develop detailed project plans. They need to have a firm grasp on tracking project timelines, budgets, and stage gates, and should be proactive in communicating updates to stakeholders. The role also involves automation design, requiring basic knowledge of relevant programming languages and the ability to create process maps and document workflows. The candidate should be able to troubleshoot minor automation issues and maintain updated records of changes. Data analytics is another key aspect of this role. The candidate should be capable of using database queries, Excel, SQL, and Big Query to analyze data autonomously, identify trends, and build business cases. A thorough understanding of financial data, cost drivers, and their implications is also required. In terms of continuous improvement, the candidate should be adept at defining problem statements and using methodologies like DMAIC, PDCA, and lean. Setting SMART goals, performing root cause analysis, and identifying bottlenecks in system flows are also part of the role. The candidate should regularly seek feedback for improvement and be able to implement control plans against critical performance indicators.
Engineering Competencies
Technical Project Management
-Demonstrates technical proficiency of the automation they are responsible for
-Identifies the critical tasks that must be completed in order for the project to be successful.
-Assists in developing detailed project plans that include cost, schedule, and resource requirements.
-Monitors projects for critical path and actual status versus planned.
-Leads defined commission, testing, KPI tracking and recaps.
-Tracks timeline, budget, and stage gates against plan.
-Proactively communicates updates to key stakeholders and escalates risks in timely manner.
-Encourages and facilitates open communication among project stakeholders.
Automation Design
-Basic knowledge of programming languages used in automation, such as Python, Java, or C++.
-Ability to create simple process maps and document workflows.
-Basic troubleshooting skills to identify and fix minor issues in automated processes.
-Understands basic best practices in automation design, including error handling and logging.
-Helps document automation processes and maintains records of changes and updates.
-Actively participates in training and learning opportunities to improve automation skills.
Data Analytics
-Uses data base queries, advanced Excel, SQL, and Big Query to analyze data.
-Utilizes existing tools and products to determine relevant data sources required for project.
-Autonomously analyzes data and identifies trends, outliers, correlations, and pilot vs. control comparisons.
-Builds business cases through quantification of costs/benefits, TVOM, IRR, NPV, and sensitivity analysis.
-Clearly understands financial data, P&L line items, drivers of cost, and implications of financial data.
Continuous Improvement
-Effectively defines problem statements and uses methodologies such as DMAIC, PDCA, kaizen, lean.
-Sets goals that are SMART (specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound).
-Performs root cause analysis prior to proposing a solution.
-Maps out system flow and critical inputs to identify bottlenecks.
-Creates and implements control plans against critical performance indicators.
-Regularly seeks out and actions against feedback.
-Continually identifies waste and opportunities for improvement within processes/ systems.

Live Better U is a Walmart-paid education benefit program for full-time and part-time associates in Walmart and Sam's Club facilities. The annual salary range for this position is $90,000.00-$180,000.00
Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
