Overview

Schedules and supervises employees to effectively provide commercial and/or residential plumbing service, repair and installation for customers.
Responsibilities
• Supervises and delegates service employees, which includes assisting in hiring and disciplining of employees, scheduling employees, setting work priorities, conducting staff meetings, counseling and training employees, completing time sheets, evaluating performance and supervising work assignments to ensure effective operations.
• Evaluates work load and schedules sewer and drain cleaning service work in a way that best utilizes manpower.
• Ensures that materials and equipment are ordered and dispensed for scheduled jobs. Reviews and approves parts, material, equipment and tool purchases.
• Calculates costs of material and labor on jobs and prepares proposals for competitive bidding on commercial and residential plumbing jobs. Communicates with journeyman plumber via telephone with cost of services. May meet with contractors to bid jobs.
• Resolves customer issues and problems encountered by service personnel. May meet with customer to develop a satisfactory solution.
• Assists in the dispatching of services to appropriate technician using proper radio and dispatch codes based on workload, technician availability, technician expertise and priority of need.
• Ensures that permits are obtained for each job. May handle licensing and bonding issues.
• Checks to ensure that each job is complete. Ensures that appropriate job documentation and/or payments are returned to the office. May perform on-site inspections for large work orders.
• Inspects vehicles and monitors preventive maintenance to ensure proper operation. Schedules service and repairs for optimum operation.
• Prepares required reports on issues such as production, vehicles, material usage, etc.
• Provides classroom and on-the-job training and support to employees.
• Reviews and promotes the maintenance of a safe, accident free and healthy work environment. Oversees all safety reporting. May act as safety coordinator for the service center and provide safety training and claims coordination.
Qualifications
A High School diploma or general education degree (GED) is required as well as a minimum of four (4) years of plumbing training or completion of an approved apprentice program. Related experience and/or advanced training or any equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted. Requires 5-7 years of skilled journeyman-level plumbing experience in addition to training. An unrestricted Journeyman license and knowledge of local and national plumbing code required. A valid driver's license and good communications/human relations skills are required. Must possess a working knowledge of general industry standards and possess basic computer skills.
