The primary purpose of the Human Resources Generalist is to drive people-related initiatives and business results through support and partnership with leaders and associates at our Paint Manufacturing Facility in Cary, IL.
This role must lead and collaborate to successfully deliver results that align with business strategy in the areas of development, performance and workforce management, engagement and employee relations, compliance, and talent acquisition. Additionally, proactively diagnose issues and opportunities and take action to bring timely resolution.
To be successful, the Human Resources Generalist must influence operational leaders and build strong relationships across departments.
Scheduled Days: Monday through Friday
Responsibilities: (May perform other duties and responsibilities, as assigned).
Staffing
· Coordinates all recruitment related activities to support recruiting efforts for their respective distribution center. Collaborates with managers to understand hiring needs and required skills and competencies for job openings.
· Participates in the interview and selection process for all distribution center supervisor and manager roles to ensure consistent quality of leadership.
· Oversees and implements new hire orientation and onboarding in partnership with operational leaders. Participates in onboarding for all new distribution center supervisors and managers.
· Supports the talent management process by partnering with the Regional HRBP and local leadership to follow through on action plans related to top talent and high potential associates.
Associate Relations
· Collaborates with operational leaders to create and manage effective retention strategies including targeted strategies, as needed, for select employee populations (e.g., under 90 days of employment, high-turnover departments, etc.).
· Conducts feedback sessions, roundtables, exit surveys/interviews, and engagement surveys; highlights the insights derived from data and partners with leadership team to develop action plans for continuous improvement.
· Responds to employment related inquiries from applicants, associates, supervisors, and managers; takes appropriate partners on complex matters.
· Advises and counsels leaders to influence positive associate relations. Counsels leaders on best practices for managing complex and non-complex issues. Escalates complex issues to Regional HRBP when necessary.
· Supports investigations and implementation of final recommendations.
Performance Management
· Provides guidance and supports leaders regarding performance management including coaching, counseling, terminating, and promoting, etc.
· Actively and regularly engages with operational leaders during the Performance Improvement Plan (PIP) and Individual Development Plan (IDP) process. May support operational leaders by attending associate performance meetings.
Administrative
· Provides oversight and administrative HR support to positively impact operations in his/her assigned distribution center. Including, but not limited to, accurate and timely processing of all associate transactions in the HRIS as well as timekeeping and payroll.
· Provides back-up support to other RDC locations as assigned.
Compliance
· Understands HR policies and practices and ensures compliance with applicable labor laws and regulations.
· Ensures compliance with form I-9 processing.
· Manages the worker’s compensation process.
· Engages in, documents, and maintains reasonable accommodation requests and other leave of absence requirements as necessary.
· Maintains documentation in alignment with applicable law and company record retention policy.
Supervisory
· Promotes high performance through regular coaching, guidance, oversight, and management to deliver positive results in human resources initiatives and organizational goals.
Education & Experience:
· Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience
· 5+ years of experience in human resources preferably in retail, wholesale, manufacturing and/or supply chain environment.
· Experience managing or supervising others.
· Intermediate knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and PowerPoint)
· Experience with HRIS, UKG preferred.
Licenses & Certifications: SHRM-CP and/or PHR certification preferred

Work Environment: Generally, works in climate-controlled office environment.
Travel: Minimal to none.
