Senior Accountant - Express Scripts - Hybrid at Cigna in St. Louis, Missouri

Job Description:

The Senior Accountant is primarily responsible for completing accounting activities relating to the maintenance of a complete and accurate general ledger for specific clients. This includes tracking billing, accrual, and payments. This role also requires processing of cash payments to external businesses. This position will work with team members as well as other departments to research and resolve discrepancies.This position will be responsible for monitoring and reconciling bank accounts and validating specific report totals. Additionally, there will be the need to prepare data for financial and medicare specific audits.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Processing accurate monthly journal entries


• Prepare balance sheet reconciliations


• Process cash payments


• Assist with preparing controls/reporting


• Assist internal & external auditors with monthly, quarterly reviews and year-end audit


• Other projects/assignments as needed

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field or equivalent work experience.


• 1-3+ years of relevant accounting or related experience


• PC skills, Microsoft Office programs, Strong Excel skills with the ability to easily learn new software.


• Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.


• Demonstrated proficiency in accounting processes, procedures, and controls.


• Experience in general ledger account analysis/reconciliation.


• Self-starter and team player.


• Experience working with cross functional departments to research and resolve issues.


• Good problem solving and analytical skills.


• Detail oriented.


• Understanding of business operations and processes.


• Focus on quality and service.


• Demonstrated customer service and relationship building skills.


• Demonstrated ability to meet multiple deadlines and manage heavy workload.


• Good verbal and written communication skills.


• Willingness to work a flexible schedule to accommodate departmental and project deadlines.
