Master’s degree in a physical or natural science from an accredited institution as approved and accepted by the University of South Alabama and three years of professional experience in a public health, medical, clinical or research laboratory.

The University of South Alabama’s Stokes School of Marine and Environmental Sciences is seeking to hire a Research Assistant II. Interested candidates should apply to be considered.
Essential Functions These are the job duties required of the position.
Essential Functions
Directs the daily activities of a research project.
Assists in the design of experimental protocols.
Oversees and performs field and lab work to include field work on bay surveys, running nutrient and carbon analyses in the lab, and maintaining quality assurance.
Independently conducts complex experiments.
Analyzes and interprets data.
Prepares manuscripts for publication.
Manages laboratory budget.
Assists in the preparation of grant applications and progress reports.
Supervises and trains lower level laboratory personnel and students.
Ensures safety in the handling and disposal of biohazardous, radioactive, and/or highly toxic substances.
Orders equipment and supplies.
Presents findings at local and national meetings.
Utilizes various laboratory equipment.
Prepares reports of research findings.
Maintains relationships with the research project’s partners and stakeholders.
Coordinates and plans project meetings.
Regular and prompt attendance.
Ability to work schedule as defined and additional hours as required.
Related duties as required.
