Essential Functions

These are the job duties required of the position.

Essential Functions
  • Develops and executes innovative strategies that enhance and solidify donor affinity and philanthropic commitments to the University of South Alabama (USA) and USA Health.
  • Develops and implements best-in-class comprehensive and personalized donor engagement and stewardship strategies to effectively engage principal and major donors, including acknowledgment protocol, print and digital stewardship, events, and recognition.
  • Identifies, cultivates, and stewards principal and major donors through personalized communication and a variety of engagement activities.
  • Manages a stewardship portfolio of principal major donors and prospects, and develops/executes donor meetings, events, and stewardship activities.
  • Collaborates with the University President, the Executive Vice President and Provost, development leadership, USA Health leadership and leadership within academic departments to identify funding opportunities and match donor intent with strategic priorities.
  • Monitors and tracks donor engagement and giving trends to inform strategy and decision making.
  • Project manages personalized donor recognition pieces (including strategic writing and graphic design) for donor thank you letters, impact reports, recognition or memory books, donor awards, special events and other special projects.
  • Serves as a liaison between donors and USA/USA Health leadership, providing updates on donor interests, preferences, and giving history.
  • Works with VP for Development and Alumni Relations, AVPs, and development officers to provide information for coordination purposes as needed.
  • Develops and maintains strong relationships with key stakeholders, including alumni, board members, friends/donors, faculty, and staff.
  • Ensures that donor recognition activities and other stewardship initiatives are planned and executed efficiently.
  • Uses creativity to think of ways to engage donors as other Development needs arise.
  • Researches and resolves internal/external questions as they relate to top donor individual stewardship plans.
  • Works on one-off custom engagement events as needed.
  • Proactively supports the stewardship responsibilities of staff by assisting them in developing, implementing and documenting individualized stewardship plans for donors.
  • Stays current on best practices in donor relations, stewardship, and fundraising trends in higher education.
  • Regular and prompt attendance.
  • Ability to work schedule as defined and additional hours as required.
  • Related duties as required.
