Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution as approved and accepted by the University of South Alabama and three years of related professional experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in a higher education setting is preferred. Experience with volunteer management, logistics, and community building is preferred.
Job Description Summary
The University of South Alabama’s Office of Community Engagement is seeking to hire an Assistant Director Campus and Community Engagement. Interested candidates should apply to be considered.
Essential Functions These are the job duties required of the position.
Essential Functions
Works to promote inclusion among the student body and support community engagement with internal and external communities.
Provides assistance to the Vice President of Diversity and Community Engagement and leads the Office of Community Engagement to build community, create opportunities and enrich the student experience.
Responsible for the administrative management of South Serves and Campus-wide collaborative campus service project.
Manages office budget.
Manages the overall operation of, advises, and evaluates the Community Engagement Advisory Board.
Develops and fosters internal campus connections to increase student engagement in campus and community service.
Establishes and maintains external community partnerships to produce and support public service, service-learning, community engagement, and volunteerism.
Conducts needs assessment annually to determine appropriate strategies to address service needs.
Develops a vision for Campus and Community Engagement.
Documents processes and projects to provide sustainability of campus and Community Engagement.
Plans the marketing approach to increase student engagement.
Strategizes approaches to continue high school community service into college community service.
Assesses community needs to support enrollment and engagement through South Serves.
Prepares an annual report, memorandums, letters, and department policy and procedures.
Assists identifying funding opportunities to support inclusion and engagement.
Contributes to strategic outcomes and visioning of the division.
Raises awareness of South Serves for students, faculty, staff, and community partners.
Identifies, supports, and develops tools for community and campus-based inclusion, service learning and volunteerism opportunities.
Provides South Serves support for the Employee Community Volunteer Program.
Supervises student workers and appropriate staff.
Schedules and attends appointments, meetings, interviews, and evaluations.
Contributes to communications on the office website and social media.
Coordinates special events and initiatives, as assigned and as needed.
Regular and prompt attendance.
Ability to work schedule as defined and additional hours as required.
Related duties as required.
