A Research Assistant position is available immediately in the Department of Biomedical Sciences, School of Graduate Studies at Meharry Medical College.

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Research Assistant to join our dynamic biomedical research team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of a bachelor's degree in a relevant field and 1-2 years of experience working in a biomedical research laboratory setting. This role requires proficiency in standard RNA and protein monitoring procedures, microscopy and in vitro and in vivo and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic research environment.
Daily Operations
Collaborate with the Principal Investigator to design and conduct research projects
Assist graduate students and junior researchers in the laboratory (provide technical guidance on data analysis, and manuscript preparation)
Maintain laboratory notebooks, and equipment to compliance with key governing agencies (e.g., biosafety, chemical safety, IACUC, etc.)
Collaborate on interdisciplinary projects (integrate various types of data and methodologies)
Required Skills
Conduct standard RNA and protein monitoring procedures.
Assist in the design and execution of experiments.
Collect, analyze, and interpret data.
Maintain accurate and detailed laboratory records.
Collaborate with team members to ensure project goals are met.
Contribute to the preparation of research reports and publications.
Ensure compliance with all safety and regulatory requirements.
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology).
1-2 years of experience in a biomedical research laboratory setting.
Proficiency in standard RNA and protein monitoring procedures.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
