We're seeking a driven Environmental Practice Lead to build, lead, and grow our Compliance and Remediation Practice. The ideal candidate will oversee operations, strategic planning, and team development while managing a diverse portfolio of state/local/educational government and private-sector projects.
This position is based out of Jacksonville, FL.
Job Summary:
As Environmental Practice Lead, you will be responsible for:
Leading program growth through new client development, strategic initiatives, and outstanding project execution.
Overseeing compliance and remediation projects (e.g., NPDES, RCRA, CERCLA, CAA, CWA) for diverse sectors including state/local/educational, transportation, energy, and commercial clients.
Managing a multidisciplinary team of project managers, scientists, and technical specialists to deliver high-quality results.
Serving as a trusted advisor to clients while driving business goals, maintaining budgets, and ensuring safety and quality excellence.
The role is strategic and dynamic, balancing hands-on technical leadership with high-level program management. The ideal candidate is a proactive, fast-paced, and amiable communicator. As a supervisor, they are empathetic, intuitive, and effective at influencing positive change. They are highly organized, socially-oriented, and enjoy juggling multiple priorities.
Responsibilities:
Operational & Project Oversight:
Manage a project portfolio currently exceeding $4M in annual revenue with project sizes up to $500,000.
Lead environmental due diligence, compliance, industrial hygiene, and remediation projects, including subsurface and sediment studies.
Ensure on-time, on-budget delivery while meeting safety and quality standards.
Strategic Leadership:
Develop and implement a business plan to expand environmental services to state/local/educational government and commercial clients within the Southeast region.
Identify and recruit top talent to build a high-performing, motivated team.
Drive client engagement through proactive outreach, maintaining and growing relationships.
Client and Business Development:
Expand existing client relationships and identify new opportunities in target markets (e.g., energy, transportation, private sectors).
Develop scopes, proposals, and cost estimates for large, multi-disciplinary projects.
Serve as primary point of contact for clients, ensuring satisfaction and repeat business.
Team Development & Mentorship:
Guide and mentor technical staff to foster professional growth and collaboration.
Promote a culture of teamwork, innovation, and accountability.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in environmental science, engineering, geology, or related field.
Professional certification (e.g., PE, PG, PMP) required (Florida licensure or eligibility within 6 months).
10+ years of experience in environmental compliance, remediation, and project/program management.
2+ years of supervisory experience, with the proven ability to empower and motivate teams for success.
Experience with FDEP PRP and regulatory agencies highly preferred.
Strong understanding of NPDES, RCRA, CERCLA, CAA, CWA, and state-specific environmental requirements.
Excellent communication, analytical, and leadership skills to manage teams and influence positive outcomes.
