The Office of Human Resources seeks an experienced human resources professional to partner with leaders across the College of Engineering to support strategic initiatives, ensure delivery of excellent customer service and champion continuous process improvement. The HR Consultant will offer solutions, execute HR operations, provide and interpret HR-related reports, and support strategic decisions. This position will be embedded within the College of Engineering and will report to the Human Resources Business Partner. Through ongoing and regular collaboration with HR Connection (Ohio State's HR service delivery center) and HR Centers of Excellence, the HR Consultant will help ensure the delivery of distinguished customer service for core HR transactions and inquiries.
This individual contributor is responsible for providing strategic consultation across the college to tie business objectives to employee and manager needs on matters including performance, talent planning/workforce planning, succession planning, learning and professional development, compensation, benefits, and related areas of human resources. The HR Consultant guides leaders to effectively utilize core HR centers of excellence resources such as total rewards and talent management programs. The role will also support leaders, managers, and supervisors with HR-related activities throughout the employee lifecycle such as recruiting, onboarding, pay and job changes, performance management, life events, and terminations.

Main Performance Objectives:
0-3 Months:
Develop strong relationships with key stakeholders, team members and partners and develop understanding of the work of the Fisher College of Business.
Support the ongoing transition to the new HR service delivery model and strategic HR imperatives.
Gain understanding of Workday (HRIS) and serve as resource to users across the college as they transition to utilizing it for HR transactions.
3-6 Months:
Assist with change management efforts related to Career Roadmap (university's compensation/career path project)
Partner with resources in HR shared services and centers of expertise to help drive strategic priorities.
Gain understanding of academic appointments (faculty, lecturers, graduate associates, researchers, etc.) and their corresponding policies and guidelines.
Gain understanding of immigration visa processes.
6-12 Months:
Advise and direct the appropriate return-to-campus efforts for college employees.
Support the college's action plan and efforts to establish greater diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging in the college.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in business administration with a concentration in human resources or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum of 4 years of professional experience delivering a variety of HR services.
Demonstrated experience coaching leaders, supervisors, and employees. Demonstrated knowledge of applicable federal and state employment laws.
Preferred Qualifications:
Academic or large complex organization experience.
Experience working in a shared service model and leveraging centers of expertise.
Proven ability to build productive working relationships with a wide variety of constituencies.
