To achieve these goals, APS partners with all STEM and Health Affairs departments to establish team-based research, education, and entrepreneurship.
The Department of Applied Physical Sciences invites applications for a tenured faculty position at the rank of Full Professor and William R. Kenan Jr. Distinguished Professor. This position is one part of an ongoing multi-year plan to grow the Department of Applied Physical Sciences (APS). The position is in the broadly defined area of materials science and engineering. Possible research areas include energy production and storage, membrane and water purification technologies, and the potential interfaces of those areas with AI.
A Ph.D. in a STEM field (science, technology, engineering or math) or related fields that contribute to applied physical sciences.
This distinguished professorship initiative continues a strategy to build a department that values interdisciplinary approaches to solve urgent societal challenges. To that end, it is desirable that candidates have evident involvement in collaborative research endeavors, undergraduate and graduate teaching, and demonstrable leadership skills and that might guide capacity-building in the emerging APS department.
