Job Title:Research Aide and InterviewerDepartment:Arts and Sciences | Chemistry and Biochemistry Administration

The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry within the College of Arts and Sciences seeks a Research Aide to join our team. The Research Aide will join the laboratory working in the broadly defined area of the actin cytoskeleton. The Research Aide will be working under the direct supervision of senior laboratory personnel to assist in experiments by using standard research protocols, purifying proteins, preparing buffers and stock solutions, autoclaving media, maintaining laboratory routine protocols, assisting in cloning genetic constructs, and purifying recombinant proteins. Specific experiments may include mutagenesis, protein labeling, fluorescence-based assays, and others. They will also help with general lab maintenance and record keeping, including receiving and storing reagents and items, maintaining instruments, and organizing lab space and samples. The Research Aide's duties include actively participating in weekly lab meetings and attending departmental seminars and other functions. The Research Aide will have basic limited knowledge of processes and/or tools required for the role through on-the-job experience and training from supervisor and colleagues. Training on specific techniques will be provided. High work ethic, commitment to success, and overall enthusiasm for scientific research are essential.





Qualifications:


High school diploma or associate degree required.


Desired: BS in Biochemistry or related disciplines is highly desirable.

The pay range for this job profile is $15.00 - $19.71. The offer for this position will fall within this range based on internal equity, unit's available budget, and the candidate's qualifications.
