Position Overview
The Ohio State University College of Dentistry's Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Dental Anesthesiology invites applications for a full-time faculty dentist anesthesiologist as a clinical track Assistant or Associate Professor in the dental anesthesiology section.
The responsibilities of the position include pre-doctoral and resident education with an emphasis in anesthesiology and pharmacology, as well as participating in the school's intramural practice. Qualified candidates may pursue a dual appointment in the Department of Anesthesiology at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center (OSUWMC), which includes the opportunity to practice in the hospital's main operating rooms.
Candidates must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a desire to create an environment that promotes collegiality, collaboration, and cultural diversity among members of various educational, research, and service-related communities. A willingness to serve as a role model and advocate for the ideals of professionalism and high ethical standards in a health science educational setting is essential.
As a school that is committed to the dental profession, faculty members in the division are engaged in externally-funded basic and/or clinical research. Candidates must demonstrate a strong desire to conduct and participate in research to complement their teaching.
Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Education and Experience Requirements

equired: Qualified candidates must possess a DDS/DMD degree from an institution that is accredited by CODA (the Commission on Dental Accreditation), and they must have completed a minimum of two years in a dental anesthesiology residency program accredited by CODA or accepted by the American Dental Board of Anesthesiology.
Other requirements include extensive experience in providing general anesthesia, and sedation for diverse dental and maxillofacial surgical procedures performed on patients of all ages including pediatrics and to function in diverse patient care environments including hospital and ambulatory settings. Candidates must be board certified or an active candidate for certification and must be eligible for dental licensure with a General Anesthesia endorsement in Ohio.
Desired: An advanced degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) in an area that is directly related to anesthesiology is desired, but not required.

The Ohio State University College of Dentistry is the fourth largest public dental school in the United States and it is the only public dental school in Ohio.
