The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health seeks a Laboratory Research Operations Analyst 1 to provide administrative and scientific support for a research program in a laboratory that conducts basic and clinical research on the neurophysiology of PTSD, suicide risk, and traumatic brain injury using wearable sensors.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the daily administration and operation of the laboratory. They will also be able to design and execute complex scientific experiments using advanced techniques and able to analyze and interpret the resulting research data. To assist with the development and implementation of new or revised research methodologies, they will be able to test experimental designs, sampling techniques, and analytical methods.
They will collaborate with faculty and staff members to further the goals of the research program by establishing standard operating procedures and overseeing the training of research staff. Additionally, they will support and coordinate laboratory activities and work assignments of postdoctoral researchers, graduate and undergraduate students, and laboratory research staff.
They will perform critical analyses of literature relevant to the research being undertaken and assist in the preparation of research papers and manuscripts for publication and presentation along with contributing to the writing for project reports and other documents. They will assist the principal investigator in the preparation of proposals to obtain funding in support of the research and will represent the organization when working with funding agencies and developing financial resources and programs.
They will oversee and coordinate periodic maintenance and testing of laboratory equipment. They will manage laboratory supply inventory, initiate the procurement of supplies and equipment, and will track laboratory expenditures and assist with budgeting and financial reporting.

Minimum Education Required
Bachelor's Level Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Experience
Ability to translate, adapt, and apply academic and/or practical knowledge in the conduct of scientific research. Ability to problem-solve and trouble shoot scientific and administrative challenges and barriers. Ability to take initiative, learn new technologies and methodologies, and remain flexible in the work environment. Strong experience engaging employees in the workplace through collaboration, accountability, integrity, and respect. This position requires successful completion of a background check, and qualified candidates may be asked to complete a pre-employment physical, including a drug screen.
Desired Experience:
Experience with training and management of collection, cleaning, and analysis of data from psychophysiological equipment such as electrocardiogram (ECG), electrodermal activity (EDA), respiration, and functional near infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS). Knowledge of bioethics and research standards and regulatory requirements is preferred. The individual will assist other laboratory scientists with their research.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand and sit and work on computer for long periods of time.
