Job Description Summary
Advance the use, implementation, and integration of technology systems (Interfolio and Workday) related to faculty affairs (e.g. Interfolio's Faculty Search (FS), Review, Promotion, and Tenure (RPT), and Faculty Activity Reporting (FAR) with Workday). Work with the OVPF staff to provide business process technical support, document Interfolio and Workday processes support, and conduct analyses to assess use of data systems. Collaborate with OVPF, ISC, and school faculty affairs staff to ensure that faculty-related technology systems are designed and used in ways consistent with the University's faculty-related policies and identify ways to improve processes and systems.


Responsibilities include monitor, evaluate, and improve information systems and academic/business processes and needs; conduct analyses to assess and improve system use, data quality, and training needs; advise design, implementation, and modification of systems to meet standards and academic policies and ensure a consistent approach to faculty-related actions, data, and systems; test and verify systems and processes; prepare user/technical documentation; assist with change management and related communications; provide data and technical recommendations to inform system design and change; provide technical assistance to OVPF staff and school faculty coordinators; translate user feedback about needed software system enhancements into business requirement specification documents; document and track issues, action items, user requirements, and deliverables in the context of project management. Collaborate with colleagues in the Office of the Vice Provost for Faculty, ISC, Provost Administrative Affairs, vendors, and faculty coordinators in Penn's twelve schools.

Job Description


Job Responsibilities



  • Conduct analyses to assess and improve system use, data quality, and training needs, and test and verify systems and processes.

  • Monitor, evaluate, and improve information systems and academic/business processes and needs, collaborating with users in the Provost's Office, ISC, and Interfolio; translate user feedback about needed software system enhancements into business requirement specification documents.

  • Support users in the faculty affairs offices of Penn's twelve schools in using applications and information systems; provide needed technical assistance.

  • Provide support in the development and implementation of user training programs, documents, and materials for applications pertaining to faculty affairs.

  • Advise the design, implementation, and modification of systems in partnership with ISC, schools, and other stakeholders to meet standards and academic policies and related employment laws; provide data and technical recommendations to inform system design and change.

  • Support implementation of new applications related to faculty affairs; assist with change management strategy and practices.

  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.




Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree and two to three years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

  • Seven to ten years of experience in IT applications and/or business process analysis preferred.

  • Experience in higher education, especially faculty affairs is preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to problem solve and support users of varying skills and backgrounds.

  • Excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to collaborate.

  • Excellent research and analytic skills.

  • In-depth knowledge of data modelling techniques.

  • Working knowledge of Faculty Affairs business management principles.

  • Excellent attention to detail.

  • Ability to turn complex concepts into simple language.
