With minimal supervision, coordinates the testing and reporting, as well as cuppings for co-manufacturing products. Also responsible for handling finished goods specification coordination.
Job Duties:
Perform various quality tests: roast color (Agtron/Colortrack), moisture (Process Sensor), particle size distribution, grind (Microtrac), residual oxygen, bean breakage, vacuum testing, and brew testing
Prepare for cuppings, including set-up and clean-up
Understand specifications and communicate effectively, both orally and written, with peers and up-line management across various departments
Administer meticulously all points of the specification process, including fulfillment of Item Set-Up and coordination specification change requests
Conduct routine testing of co-manufactured items, report out on Co-Manufacturing KPIs, and communicate results to Co-Manufacturers
Coordinate and execute competitive cuppings
Coordinate and execute PPA Controls Cupping
Document control management for all suppliers & co-manufacturers
Assist in bid sampling process, including physical and sensorial analysis, data entry and maintenance, and sample shipment
Conduct sensorial analysis as needed - this includes set up, clean up, and compiling data
Qualifications & Requirements:
Minimum 1 - 3 years of experience in food, chemical, agriculture, or other manufacturing facility preferred
Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Chemistry, or related science field preferred; high school diploma required
Strong sensorial skills and experience required
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong math skills for compiling data and sensory results required
PC/Microsoft Office and software packages; Excel, Word, PowerPoint proficiencies required
Must work independently and maintain constructive working relationships with internal and external customers
Able to effectively root cause problem solve, working with other departments at all levels; must be a strong collaborator
Food Safety Requirements and Responsibilities:
Ability to adhere to and follow all Good Manufacturing Processes and policies
Physical Demands:
Ability to lift up to and including 25lbs, frequent standing, bending, and stooping, ability to work in a non-climate-
controlled manufacturing environment.
