Eurofins is searching for a Sanger Sequencing Assistant Laboratory Manager in Louisville, KY.



Sanger Sequencing Assistant Laboratory Manager responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following :


  • Works to create and maintain high performance teams, including interviewing, hiring, training, goal setting, performance evaluations and career development

  • Demonstrates interpersonal skills by effectively communicating, building of positive moral and team spirit and resolving conflict constructively with team members

  • Effectively oversees and manages production flow across departments by setting priorities, identifying and reducing backlogs and bottle necks and correcting for deviation from established procedures

  • Works closely with Laboratory Technicians, Maintenance Personnel and Customer and Technical support to ensure smooth sample processing and data delivery to customers

  • Maintain a high degree of personal initiative, interact positively with all staff and management and exhibit independent problem solving and decision making skills

  • Monitor and maintain staff results by coaching, counseling and disciplining employees

  • Effectively manages personnel resources to ensure timely turnaround of product while effectively managing material resources

  • Keeps a solid understanding of all laboratory procedures and operations in order to provide informed answers to employees and other departments

  • Identifies projects geared towards improving quality, reducing consumable costs and improving product turnaround

  • Assists Team Leads with establishing and/or reviewing work instructions and resulting training of employees

  • Manages time clock system for hourly employees

  • Successfully completes any required training and ensures Quality Standards are maintained within manufacturing

  • Strictly adheres to company health, safety and regulatory policies, including correct handling of Hazardous Materials and wearing proper PPE (personal protective equipment)

  • Be prepared to work overtime on any shift or weekends if requested

  • Keeps sensitive information confidential and acts ethical in all circumstances


The ideal candidate would possess :

  • Previous experience working in a ISO-9001 or cGMP environment

  • Demonstrated ability to provide group leadership

  • Effective interpersonal skills and professional demeanor

  • Ability to set priorities, manage multiple priority tasks and make technical decisions within time constraints

  • Ability to clearly communicate verbally and in writing

  • Ability to rationally handle crisis and show good judgment under pressure

  • Familiar with standard laboratory procedures

  • Computer literacy, including familiarity with Microsoft Excel and Windows Explorer

  • Ability to work with Hazardous Chemicals and to lift 35+ pounds

  • Initial RCRA training

  • Annual RCRA awareness training

  • Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) initial 24 hour training and annual 8 hour refresher training


Basic Minimum Qualifications :

  • BS degree in Biology, Chemistry or related fields.

  • Previous experience with Sanger DNA Sequencing process, instrumentation and software applications.

  • Previous leadership/management experience

  • Previous training experience

  • Previous SOP documentation

  • Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship
