What You Will Contribute:
The Machinist is responsible for setting up and operating a variety of computer-controlled and mechanically controlled equipment to produce precision metal parts. This position will also take precise measurements for cutting or shaping and will select appropriate machine and settings for a given task.
Job Duties:
Set up, assist and/ or operate conventional, special-purpose, computer and numerical control CNC machines to fabricate metallic and non-metallic parts by applying knowledge of machine shop theory and procedures, shop mathematics, and layout techniques.
Work from detailed instructions, blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, and specifications.
Sample part to determine dimensions and tolerance of finished work piece.
Verify conformance of finished work piece to specifications, using precision measuring instruments.
Measure, mark, and scribe dimensions and reference points on material or work piece as guides for subsequent machining.
Start and observe machine operation to detect malfunctions or out of tolerance machining.
Adjust machine controls, offsets, fixtures, and stops.
Set up and operate machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings.
Education and Experience:
High School degree/GED required; Trade school preferred
3+ years of experience with lathes and CNC programs desired
Qualifications:
Intermediate proficiency in math required
Solid written and verbal communication skills required
Excellent coordination and mechanical skills required
Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and safety

Working Conditions:
Work is performed in a manufacturing environment
Must be able to stand or walk for prolonged periods of time.
Depending on the assigned department, must be able to demonstrate the ability to lift up to 60 pounds, and complete an audiogram test
Salary:
$23 - 27/hr.
