Job Description: This position is within the Motor Carrier Services Division. Motor Carrier Services provides services to the interstate motor carrier industry based in Nebraska. The primary duties of the division are to manage and administer two programs: The International Registration Plan (IRP) and the International Fuel Tax Agreement (IFTA) . IRP is a vehicle registration program where fees registration fees are collected based on the percentage of miles operated in the various states and Canadian provinces an interstate fleet of trucks operate. IFTA is a fuel tax program where fuel taxes are reconciled and distributed also based on the miles operated in the respective states and provinces. Nebraska has a robust trucking industry, and we are looking for customer focused employee to join our team and work with this important industry!
Job Responsibilities:
Process vehicle certificate of title and registration applications. This includes the collection, compilation and review of information and documentation from multiple sources prior to making decisions. Verify appropriate documentation of sales tax forms and information. Entering and validating fuel tax returns.
Communication via the telephone and email with interstate trucking customers, banks, county officials other state agencies and agents. Answer public phone calls and assist in-person customers.
Receipt payments received from customers including daily reconciliation.
Receive and log incoming mail and distribution.
Process and issue vehicle registrations and license plates, fuel tax permits and decals, certificates of tile.
Requirements / Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications: Coursework/training or experience related to research, presentation, or publication in an area related to the programs or functions of the employing agency; business administration; accounting; customer service; and/ or technical support work, including use of computer software such as word processing, spreadsheets, and database management.
Other: Some positions may require experience and/or training that is unique to the work assigned; a valid driver's license or the ability to provide independent authorized transportation; and/or criminal history background checks and other specific background check protocols for their agency.
