Job Description:

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Kforce has a client in Cupertino, CA that is seeking a Product Design Engineer.

Responsibilities:

• Assess current program requirements while prioritizing future flexibility and modularity in design


• Identify and track issues that may affect program scope, timelines, or budgets


• Identify when to utilize external vendor knowledge on particular designs/systems


• Understand the project scope from internal teams and clearly communicate design requirements, feedback, and ownership to external vendors


• Develop and manage detailed project CAD/Documentation; Ensuring alignment for internal documentation with anything developed by outside vendor


• Building physical models to evaluate functionality, manufacturability, and robustness


• Select off-the-shelf components and develop designs that are cost-effective and easy to manufacture in-house or through external vendors for supporting infrastructure and tools


• Analyzing data generated from lab experiments and vendor builds to inform engineering decisions


• Traveling both domestically and internationally, to piece part and assembly vendors to realize the physical design and finding root cause for failures

REQUIREMENTS:

• A passion for functional design and an appreciation for detail


• Strong analytical/problem solving skills


• Excellent organizational and leadership skills


• The ability to articulate design issues in quantitative terms both verbally and with documentation


• Experience working in a collaborative environment and self-motivation to identify and drive resolution of issues across multiple projects


• Ability to lead cross-functional communication between project teams and external vendors


• Experience with 3D CAD modeling systems and workflow


• Experience working with contract manufacturers


• Experience in Design for Manufacturability (DFM), and Design for Assembly (DFA), statistical tolerance analysis techniques, functional dimensioning, and geometric tolerancing

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
