Position Title: Senior Accounting Technician Reports To: Chief Financial Officer
Position Summary
Performs general accounting duties related to the accounts payable, accounts receivables, payroll and purchasing functions for the Company.
Responsibilities
Duties include but are not be limited to:
Process invoices for payment per defined procedures Performs coding of invoices with CFO approval and ensure all checks over $10,000 are presented to ED with backup for approval prior to mailing Assists CFO with month and year end closing to include audit work documents Prepare bank deposit and bank statement reconciliations Keep abreast of all current procedures and procedural changes affecting the financing of all programs required by HUD and the IRS via notices, handbooks, etc. Manage and coordinate the processes and systems for the collection of revenue and general accounts receivable within the Agency Assist with SHA events and planning Keep a running balance of expenses Maintains appropriate records and files and other documentation for areas of responsibility I.e., purchase orders, credit applications and banking information etc. Maintains monitoring system for complaints on charges to tenants Prepare and issue various reports as required Maintain investment registers for control, monitoring and evaluation of investment activities; maintain all financial records, reports and files in accordance with HUD regulations Maintains supplies inventory for Cost Center Validates check for all programs Maintain Fixed Assets balances and assist managers with balances to physical inventory Perform various month-end closing activities as required Processes all payroll and related tax filings and retirement reports as required Calculates vacancy charges on move-outs Responsible for PH charge adjustments Maintains file on all collection loss accounts, and refers all such accounts to Property Managers to be reported to Debts owed Act as Assistant to Finance Manager Prepares, maintains and verifies the accuracy and completeness of insurance/investment registers Respond to customer inquiries regarding utility charges and account balances Assist with minor computer difficulties Assist HR in reviewing Benefits Packages Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
Education
An Associates Degree in business administration with a concentration in accounting, or a related field, or equivalent experience is required.
Experience
Ten years’ experience in general accounting with at least five years’ experience in accounts receivable, accounts payable, and payroll is required. Other general office experience is desired.
Knowledge and Skills
Should have sound knowledge of basic accounting principles. Must be well organized with strong attention to details. Must be able to work well with people and communicate effectively. Must have strong computer skills.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to sit and stand for periods of time required to complete the tasks of the job. Must also be able to lift up to 20 lbs.
