Supervisor, Accounting
The University of Miami/UHealth of Department of Facilities has an exciting opportunity for a Full Time Supervisor, Accounting to work at the UHealth Medical Campus. The Supervisor, Accounting oversees the daily activities of accounting professionals in assigned division(s) to ensure compliance with applicable accounting principles and regulations. Moreover, the Supervisor, Accounting compiles financial information and formulates reports and recommendations to assist managing staff in the financial decision-making process.
Records, classifies, and summarizes financial transactions and events.
Verifies documents for completeness and compliance with government and private agencies.
Initiates and processes journal entries into various accounts.
Interviews, trains, and disciplines junior accounting staff members and prepares performance reports.
Counsels and assists persons from other departments regarding accounting administration and system questions and problems.
Acts as liaison to auditors, insurance examiners, and other external sources to answers questions and resolve concerns.
Supervises and directs the activities of three or more full-time staff with authority to recommend the hiring, firing, and disciplining in collaboration with Facilities Management. Oversees individual employee development and training and conducts performance appraisals.
Monitors, reconciles, and assists with fiscal administration for the department, including but not limited to budgets, funding, contracts and purchasing.
Prepare, examine, and analyze accounting records, financial statements, or other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards and identify trends and explanations for material variances.
Reports to management regarding the financial standing of the department.
Develop, maintain, and analyze budgets; preparing periodic reports that compare budgeted costs to actual costs.
Work closely with Accounting staff, outside vendors and contractors to ensure department is current with all invoices/bills.
Responsible for reviewing all financial business processes in Workday as Cost Center Manager.
Create and schedule/launch Enterprise Interface Builder (EIB) integrations for the Facilities Accounting department on a monthly or as needed basis.
Responsible for payment and performing the charge-outs/cost recoveries for assigned suppliers
Responsible for posting charges to sub-ledger and general ledger in TMA Systems and review TMA Systems' report to identify any errors to ensure report successfully uploads in the TMA/Workday integration.
Ensure all utility bills are processed by Engie Insights accurately and confirm EDI payments to Engie Insights are executed to provide funding for the utility bills; review journals are processed and posted accurately.
Provide monthly reports of analysis of use and cost charges on water consumption to UM Hazardous Materials Manager.
Evaluate and make appropriate improvements to internal accounting processes to ensure that practices are in line with the overall goals of the department/organization.
Coordinate the fiscal year end closing process.
Review, investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies and irregularities
Record journal entries on a needed basis.

Core Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in relevant field
Minimum 4 years of relevant experience
