POSITION DESCRIPTION:



The School of Continuing Education and Workforce Development is an exciting and entrepreneurial office within the College, which offers a wide variety of non-credit classes, courses, seminars, and training for the community. These offerings are focused on revitalizing careers, upgrading skills and credentials, growing businesses, and pursuing pastimes and passions. Additionally, the HCCC Center for Business & Industry (CBI) is the area leader in developing and delivering educational classes and programs for Hudson County's businesses, organizations, and individuals. Reporting directly to the Associate Vice President of Continuing Education & Workforce Development, the Director will manage educational classes and skill-building programs through federal, state, local, and privately funded grants. The Director provides strategic leadership and direction in growing client training programs that can be grant-funded and private pay. The Director oversees the teams and processes related to CEWD's overall operations and finance. The Director works closely with the Systems Coordinator to ensure CEWD platform syncs up with the College's main systems. The Director acts to further the institution's diversity, equity, and inclusion goals.




The Director will have both internal and external responsibilities, ranging from project management, program administration, strategic planning, new course development, partner development, and community engagement. In addition, the Director will continue the implementation and evaluation of financial and operational standard operating procedures. Summary of Duties



RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Promote, lead, and manage all aspects of day-to-day management, planning, administration, and operations associated with business client training programs and new grants including recruitment, selection, hiring, training, supervision of staff, and evaluation of the team.

  • Set performance goals and provide professional development opportunities to assist team in meeting established benchmarks.

  • Development of short- and long-term strategic planning initiatives.



  • Finance & Operations (60%)


  • Develop and monitor CEWD's fiscal plan in collaboration with the CEWD leadership that includes operational budgets and grant/project budgets within the framework of the vision, mission, and strategic direction of the College.

  • Monitor the P & L and analyze all operating and grant budgets to ensure effective fiscal management and efficient cost control systems.

  • Develop, implement, and monitor policies and procedures and ensure they support the CEWD's goals and objectives.

  • Lead monthly and year-end closings to record finances and WFD program enrollments.

  • Continuously create, implement, and formalize the various processes that need to happen throughout the fiscal year, such as monthly and fiscal year-end closings and new budget creations.

  • Work with CEWD FinOps team and internal stakeholders to continuously identify areas where processes can be streamlined for the School of CEWD, including obtaining tools, resources, and reports.

  • Oversee the College's hiring processes for full and part-time personnel and train hiring managers where necessary.

  • Work with Systems Coordinator, IT, and Finance to ensure financial transactions in Elevate are reflected correctly in the relevant budgets.

  • Work with CEWD grant writing team to develop budgets and budget narratives for grant applications.

  • Work with CEWD teams to troubleshoot HR, Finance, and Payroll issues.






  • Programs (30%)


  • Responsible for the strategic vision, management, and evaluation of CEWD's Business Client Trainings which include private pay and grant-funded employer trainings.

  • Grow enrollment by building new programs and seeking grant opportunities.

  • Work with program teams to develop and deploy marketing strategies and materials to support programs and provide internal and external community and student awareness of programs.

  • Actively network, research and assess needs to create events and outreach opportunities for promotion of business client training programs.

  • Work with program teams to resolve student, faculty, and staff concerns. Facilitate communication between and among concerned parties to resolve conflicts expeditiously.

  • Ensure the delivery of quality professional enrichment courses, customized courses, events and comprehensive educational services to business, industry, government agencies, and community members.

  • Uses data analytics to inform and update stakeholders on progress towards enrollment, gross and net revenue generation, and program quality.

  • Work with HCCC Communications Department to promote business client training services and create promotional materials and catalogs and contribute to the CEWD Happenings page.






  • Other (10%)


  • Represent the College in workforce and economic development committee meetings, affinity groups, and other entities, as appropriate.

  • Work with HCCC Website Services to build and maintain Business Client Training webpages.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.





  • Qualifications



    QUALIFICATIONS:


    POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree: required in any industry/field.


  • 5 Years of Experience: related work experience in grant management/administration and budgeting/fiscal management. Experience in higher education especially regarding issues related to student supports, persistence and completion, workforce development, low-income, and first-generation college populations.


  • Technology Skills: The department relies on technology to scale its efforts. We need individuals skilled in database management, spreadsheets, video conferencing, email management, word processing, electronic presentations and knowledge of Salesforce.


  • Engagement Skills: This concept is robust and inclusive - ability to build and maintain relationships and partnerships demands customer services skills, and marketing skills. Attention to detail and ability to write well impacts engagement.

  • PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
  • Master's (or higher) degree in Business Administration, public policy, or related field.

  • Previous management experience of a grant portfolio with a multi-million budget.

  • Bi-lingual: Spanish/Arabic languages are a priority for the community.
