Duties: As TCSL Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) and Molecular Bioinformatics Analyst, this position will report to the TCSL NGS Assay Platform Lead position. This individual will support NGS platform establishment and development in TCSL, including instrument operation, validation, and integration into workflow, staff training, SOPs and other documentation. One of the key responsibilities of this position will be to lead in the development of NGS data analysis pipelines by selecting, adapting and utilizing appropriate software while working with vendors, bioinformatics cores and other resources. This position may also assist with the analysis of molecular data from other advanced instrumentation to be brought into the Center for Cellular Immunotherapies, such as Nanostring's GeoMx DSP and nCounter MAX, and CODEX.
The position will support the development of NGS library preparation workflow and assist in writing associated Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for library preparation, NGS data acquisition and data analysis. This individual will assist in management of automation in TCSL (3 DNA/RNA extraction robots and the EpMotion liquid handler including a pending upgrade for NGS library preparation). This position will also cross-train and support the TCSL molecular team by sample processing and qPCR on an as-needed basis. The duties of this position may require occasional working during University Holidays. Finally, this position will support other molecular projects in TCSL such as telomere length evaluation by NGS by collaborating with TCSL Biochemical Platforms Lead, Fang Chen.
Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree with 3 to 5 years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience required. Master's degree preferred. The successful candidate must have prior experience in the following methodologies: DNA/RNA isolation, sequencing library preparation, knowledge of NGS technologies and data analysis. Prior experience with process and assay automation is required. Prior experience with human clinical trials and working in fast paced environment is preferred. Strong communication skills required. Prior experience working with equipment vendors and cores is required.
