We are looking to add new talent to our growing team! We are currently seeking a Health & Safety Specialist to work in a technical support role with highly skilled professionals on diverse project teams in a dynamic environment. This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing group and company and get involved in a variety of projects for a diverse range of clients. This is a full-time position located in Nashville, TN.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES The successful candidate will:
Responsible for the on-site Health & Safety of our staff and subcontractors, performing tasks such as:
Lead daily safety kick-off meeting, JHA development and review, identify and safely manage change conditions, and maintain safety documentation.
Lead the site on-boarding and routine training, and maintain site training records.
Spend 90% of the time in the field observing work for unsafe acts, conditions, near misses, incidents, and ideal behaviors, and conduct weekly/daily site assessments.
Conduct and manage air monitoring program.
Inspect and maintain H&S field equipment, such as calibrating air monitors.
Prepare weekly and monthly site assessments and safety statistics recap forms.
Track audit findings and corrective actions to closure.
Contributes as primary author and independently completes documents, such as HASP, JHA, Site Assessments and Audits, and client memoranda for senior review.
Supports the management of compliance with H&S programs; applies H&S concepts, procedures, and approaches during planning and implementation of projects; detects potentially unsafe work practices and recommends countermeasures.
Understands and implements established company standards and tools. Supports the H&S team develop, improve, and implement H&S-related programs and training, and identifies opportunities for improvement of service delivery and standardized work processes.
Promotes safe behaviors, provides direction on best practices and operating procedures to staff members on H&S, and contributes to the development of H&S operating procedures and delivers presentations.
Directly engages in incident investigations to identify root causes and appropriate corrective actions that aid in preventing recurrence of similar incidents in the future.
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety & health or related program.
6+ years of relevant experience.
Has a basic understanding of emotional intelligence, strong interpersonal skills and can demonstrate strong communication skills including verbal and written.
Is self-directed and able to work productively on multiple tasks and simultaneously.
Strong computer skills including proficiency in industry standard software .
Recognized certification such as ASP, GSP, CSP, CHMM strongly preferred.
Current OSHA 40-hr. HAZWOPER training and certification required.
Experience in industrial hygiene is a plus.
Must possess a valid driver's license.
Must be able to lift 30 lbs. unassisted.
Willing and able to travel to job sites and on temporary out-of-town assignments as needed.
