Provides a broad range of administrative support for Harvard's Center for Brain Science, an interdepartmental initiative focused on understanding how the brain works. Responsible for administrative logistics and financial management of the Center, working closely with the Executive Director and research scientists. Manages Center financial accounts and budgets; responsible for compliance with sponsored research regulations and accounting standards; assists in preparation and submission of grant proposals; oversees the purchase of research equipment. The Assistant Director should be able to work independently with minimal supervision, oversee support staff as needed, adapt to increased responsibility as the Center grows, and be committed to the goals in the Center for Brain Science. Perform other related duties as assigned. Requires knowledge of financial accounting and budget management, word processing, spreadsheets, and databases. Excellent communication skills required. Demonstrated organizational skills and experience required. Harvard experience and familiarity with the sponsored research environment preferred.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required
Minimum of 5 years' relevant work experience
Additional Qualifications and Skills
MBA or Master's degree in relevant field
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, advanced Excel skills
Knowledge of advanced financial operations principles
