Core Responsibilities:



Patient Care:



  • Obtain thorough clinical histories, assess patient conditions, and gather exam data.

  • Administer contrast media according to established procedures, ensuring patient safety and comfort.

  • Confirm patient identification and ensure all studies are correctly labeled.

  • Review images for quality and release patients once the study is complete.

  • Respond promptly to emergency situations and assist other technologists as needed.

  • Ensure patient privacy and dignity are maintained throughout the procedure.

  • Organize schedule and prioritize tasks to meet departmental needs.

  • Follow physician instructions and perform pre- and post-procedure verification.

  • Demonstrate proficiency in sterile techniques and preps for procedures (including biopsies, if applicable).

  • Ensure correct contrast dosing, monitor patient labs, and apply safety protocols.




Equipment Operation & Maintenance:



  • Operate MRI equipment, adjusting techniques for optimal image quality.

  • Report malfunctioning equipment to supervisors promptly.

  • Maintain and disinfect equipment according to infection control policies.

  • Ensure all equipment is properly calibrated and ready for use.

  • Assist in troubleshooting and ensuring equipment is ready for patient exams.




Education & Communication:



  • Explain procedures to patients clearly and calmly, addressing concerns to reduce anxiety.

  • Provide excellent customer service, demonstrating empathy and professionalism.

  • Participate in the orientation and training of new staff members.

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with departmental standards.

  • Complete required departmental and hospital-wide training as directed.




Quality Control & Operations:



  • Ensure images meet quality standards and are transmitted to PACS promptly.

  • Maintain a safe and organized MRI suite.

  • Restock supplies and linens; assist in maintaining a clean department.

  • Assist patients with positioning and safely transfer them on and off procedure tables.

  • Perform routine clerical duties to support department operations.

  • Maintain productivity and keep supervisors informed of any issues.

  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory standards, including Joint Commission requirements.





Required Qualifications:



Education:



  • Graduation from an accredited Radiologic Science program.




Certification & Licenses:



  • ARRT Certification in MRI or equivalent MRI certification required.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.




Experience:



  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in patient imaging, with proven expertise in MRI technology required.




Skills & Competencies:



  • Strong communication skills with the ability to interact with patients, physicians, and team members professionally.

  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and function effectively under pressure.

  • Detail-oriented, able to multitask, and manage a high-volume workload in a fast-paced environment.

  • Excellent customer service skills, with a patient-centered approach.

  • Proficient in MRI technology, patient positioning, and magnet safety.

  • Knowledgeable about anatomy and pathology and their impact on imaging quality.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.
