As a Data and Analytics Specialist at the Federal Reserve you will develop compelling data driven content that keeps the public educated and informed about the working of the nation’s central bank. Our projects help make the underlying structure of the economy visible to the public and informs policy makers about the state of the economy. Reporting to the manager of Digital Solutions, you will develop data experiences for the department, Bank and System in close collaboration with Bank subject matter experts. This role supports the department by developing, maintaining, and enhancing the Bank's digital communication, as well as providing direction and expertise in the data visualization space. Works closely with content providers, web and application developers, support groups, writers, editors, designers, information security personnel, and other Federal Reserve System public information and System leads to deliver creative and engaging digital data experiences.

Essential Duties:


  • You will consult with various departments to collaborate and understand the objectives behind data objectives for visualization and audience distribution.

  • Conduct user and product owner research for data sets in order develop a deep understanding of the data produced by the bank in order to deliver dynamic and impactful visualizations.

  • You work with leadership and project delivery to develop and define product roadmaps, enhancements and business goals from a strategic and user-centric approach.

  • Collaborate with creative and technical teams to produce compelling data visualizations that meet business objectives and user expectations.

  • You provide insight into data structure requirements by analyzing and interpreting multiple sources of data, collaborating on the operationalization of data for optimal presentation on various channels.

  • Gather data and translates business requirements to provide appropriate analytical solutions to solve business problems, ranging from basic reporting to predictive analytics

  • You visualize and reports analytic findings using a variety of methods to promote understanding of key insights and actionable takeaways for both technical and non-technical audiences.


  • You will learn the Bank and System software development methodologies and standards. Recommends enhancements and changes to our processes where applicable.

  • You have knowledge of the latest data presentation and management trends and translates those into opportunities to enhance our user's experiences promoting innovation.

Education and Experience:


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Analytics or relevant experience required.

  • Minimum of 3 years of related experience

  • Ability to meet deadlines and work on multiple projects simultaneously

  • Prior experience with technical problem solving and explaining complex technical topics

  • Self-starter and highly motivated; capable of working independently, yet collaboratively, within a team-oriented environment

  • Experience with data profiling, data quality reporting, and data cleansing

  • Familiarity with data architecture design and development concepts, such as data warehousing, data lakes, and modeling

  • Experience with report development and modern BI and reporting tools, data querying/analytical software (Tableau, PowerBI, D3, Python, R, SAS)

Knowledge and Skills:


  • Critical thinking skills with an eye for process improvement opportunities with an ability to perform moderate to highly complex independent research

  • Strong business acumen and analytical skills and experience with Agile development methodologies.

  • Knowledge of industry best practices in data governance and data security

  • Knowledge of web and digital analytics tools such as Google Analytics, Kissmetrics, Sprout, Adobe Analytics preferred.

  • Demonstrated experiences in content strategy, user experience, usability, data visualization, search and website analytics, social media, or database design.

The salary grade for this position is: 13. Final salary and offer will be determined by the applicant’s background, experience, and skills, and internal equity and alignment with market data.
