Job Description
Position Overview
As a Director, Origination, you will be responsible for supporting Invenergy's origination activities in the PJM market and with C&I customers. The Director, Origination will maintain, develop, and grow C&I and utility customer relationships with the ultimate objective to execute offtake agreements including Power Purchase Agreements for new-build and existing assets, as well as Build Transfer Agreements and Development Transfer Agreements for new assets. This role will be responsible for market strategy development and execution in close collaboration with Invenergy's development, regulatory affairs, and strategy teams. This position will report to the SVP of Origination. This role would be an ideal opportunity for an ambitious self-starter with relevant origination and industry experience and who takes a long term view on building trust and credibility with customers. Expect 25% travel.
Responsibilities
Develop and maintain relationships with C&I and utility customers.
Develop marketing and sales strategies with objective to execute Power Purchase Agreements for new and existing assets, Build Transfer Agreements, and Development Transfer Agreements.
Design commercial structures that meet customer needs and achieve business goals.
Lead and support contract negotiations with purposeful commercial strategy and risk management.
Regularly meet with key customers to understand needs and build trust.
Coordinate with development, finance, engineering and other departments to develop solutions for customers, including assisting in the development of proposals and pricing for opportunities.
Create strategies and business cases for new project developments in conjunction with other teams.
Maintain deep understanding and knowledge of power markets and regulatory activities impacting customers and projects.
Prepare and deliver internal and external presentations.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree
10+ years of relevant years of experience
Valid drivers license
Able to travel >25%
Eligible to work in the United States without the need for employer visa sponsorship now or in the future.
Preferred Skills
7+ years in the energy sector with demonstrated expertise in sales, commercial deal structuring, and negotiations.
Deep knowledge of U.S. power markets with at least some experience with C&I customers and PJM, as well as existing utility relationships in these markets.
MBA or similar advanced degree
Renewable energy project development experience
Renewable energy project management or construction experience.
Proven experience in relationship sales with C&I customers and utilities
Strong organizational, networking, leadership, and time management skills.
Collaborative leader and team-player who will work with others to deliver results.
Strong public speaking and personal skills.
Ability to write effectively and communicate concisely.
The base pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target salary for the position. Invenergy considers a number of factors when determining base pay offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education and skills.
