ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY:
The USF foundation relations team coordinates the university's foundation engagement activity in support of USF students, faculty, research, and programs that create a positive impact within our local community and beyond.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Director of Foundation Relations, this position pursues philanthropic opportunities for private foundation funding, primarily in the under-$50,000 range. The position develops and manages a portfolio of relationships to drive philanthropic activity on behalf of the university.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Submission of Proposals and Letters of Inquiry
Working with faculty on the writing and editing proposals
Ensuring alignment with funder priorities
Collection of required attachments, such as letters of support, institutional financials, etc.
Work with faculty and research liaisons on development of budgets
Communication with funder, as needed
Timely submission of proposals/LOI by mail, e-mail, or online interfaces
Reporting on funded projects
Working with faculty on collecting relevant data
Working with faculty on writing and editing of reports
Timely submission of reports by mail, e-mail, or online interfaces
Building relationships with private foundation partners/Stewardship
Making introductory calls to foundations, as appropriate
Meeting with foundations, as appropriate, to identify priorities and formulate strategies
Inviting foundation reps to campus and to key events
Ensuring foundation receives appropriate stewardship through giving societies, thank-you cards, reports, notification of media coverage, etc.
Identify Opportunities for funding
Sharing RFP opportunities with faculty and DOs
Routine searches in Foundation Search database
Work with Prospect Research to generate prospect lists for appropriate projects
Performs other duties as assigned.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM:
This position requires a Bachelor's degree and three years of experience related to development or other appropriate professional experience.
FLSB1310 Equivalency:
4 years of directly relevant experience may be substituted for bachelor's degree.
PREFERRED:
3-5 years of experience in grants/foundations position with a non-profit. Experience with FoundationSearch or Foundation Directory Online
SPECIAL SKILLS/TRAINING:
Competencies required include excellent written and verbal communication skills; MS Office suite, including Excel, Word, and Power Point; and fundraising ability. Experience with FoundationSearch or Foundation Directory Online a plus.
