Position Summary

Senior Software Engineer

Erie Indemnity Company d/b/a Erie Insurance seeks a Senior Software Engineer in Erie, PA, responsible for translating and developing requirements into workable software solutions. May perform duties in one or more of the following disciplines: Open Systems, Mainframe, Application, and/or Configuration. Specific duties include: (i) maintain and develop programs for use in business and IT automation; (ii) incorporate various accepted methodologies to design software and applications at a critical level to project or release; (iii) develop program logic for new, complex software applications or analyze and modify logic in existing complex software applications; (iv) accurately deliver complicated code, configuration changes and enhancements; (v) contribute to releases with high quality code and unit tests, having challenges in complexity or deadlines; (vi) implement and verify a complete unit test; (vii) contribute to design documents; (viii) improve stability of platforms, applications, services and systems; (ix) effectively communicate with customers, teammates or other stakeholders, and may function as lead or point of contact; (x) share knowledge of systems and mentors or trains others; and (xi) develop and manage relationships with diverse groups of stakeholders at multiple levels.

This position is located in Erie, PA, and offers a maximum of 52 remote (within the U.S.) workdays per year.

Qualifications

Must possess a bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Business with a Computer Science concentration, Software Engineering, or Electronic Engineering, plus five (5) years of experience in a software engineering or software developer role.

Alternative requirements: an associate's degree (or foreign equivalent), in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Business with a Computer Science concentration, Software Engineering, or Electronic Engineering, plus seven (7) years of experience in a software engineering or software developer role.

The required experience must include five (5) years with each of the following: (i) Java programming; (ii) Software Development Lifecycle; and (iii) software delivery on an IT Delivery or Support Team. Experience can be concurrent.
