The Sr. Manager - Payroll Tax is responsible for management, delivery, and continuous improvement of end-to-end Payroll Tax and related processes that consistently demonstrate value to Finance, Accounting and Shared Services (FASS)'s internal and external customers for ManpowerGroup brands. The position will focus on holding teams accountable to desired SLAs and KPIs which will optimize performance for the overall organization. Process improvement responsibilities stem from analysis, development, implementation planning, change management, and identifying training requirements.
Making an Impact
• Oversee the Payroll Tax processes and related responsibilities for North America
• Lead a team and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and deadlines
• Collaborate with the Global Tax team and third-party Tax experts to ensure transactions are processed timely and reported accurately
• Research and evaluate potential technology solutions including in-house developed tools and outside vendor tools if warranted
• Act as approval point for process improvements and lead organizational change management
• Supervise and monitor payroll tax filings and payments. Ensure timely and accurate completion of tax processing activities by supervising and monitoring payroll tax center functions
• Data integrity. Ensure accurate data with respect to weekly/monthly/quarterly/annual tax reports
• Assist team in prioritizing and resolving open tax notices, with a focus on preventing financial or other significant impact to the company. Assist team in implementing process improvement to address preventable issues that lead to notices.
People Leadership
• Leader of the Payroll tax department, managing a team of 4-5 employees including Payroll Tax Manager
• Staff Development. Lead, supervise, coach, counsel, and support development of team members to achieve maximum performance levels
• Supervise and monitor. Ensure timely and accurate review and resolution of discrepancies with respect to tax filing and payments
• Provide staff mentoring by providing team members with stretch assignments and cross training with other tax disciplines within the team
• Develop strong cross functional relationships to foster communication, partner on issue resolution and propel process improvement with other teams to meet overall business goals
Your Typical Day and Other Key Details
• Support and design processes and management of internal team and third-party vendor relationship
• Monitor process performance via SLA's, KPIs as well financial performance via cost effectiveness metrics
• Proactively address daily tasks and issues through planning and utilizing time and resources effectively to meet all deadlines. Utilize work processes that improve efficiency, creating detailed plans to accomplish specified goals
• Set individual performance development goals. Establish individual and team goals, and drive staff to meet or exceed targeted KPIs. Provide skills training to improve performance. Coach and develop staff for continuous improvement of performance
• Negotiate, persuade, and compromise in order to achieve ManpowerGroup and Shared Services goals
Qualifications:
Required
• Minimum 5 years in payroll tax or related tax experience
• 2+ years managing and leading a team
• Experience with managing external suppliers and/or vendors
• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
Nice to Have
• Process design and continuous improvement initiatives
• Demonstrated experience with payroll/billing and tax systems
• Experience managing off-shore suppliers and/or vendors
