As a Materials Engineer II, you will be responsible for performing physical analysis of electronic components and medical devices, developing analysis techniques, and supporting analysis tools in a laboratory setting. You will have hands on responsibilities on multiple tools and you will collaborate across multiple engineering disciplines.

This position will work onsite at our Tempe campus.

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

• Perform physical failure analysis of electronic components and medical devices.


• Understand complex issues and consult with internal customers to conduct meaningful analyses.


• Experience with some of the following instruments and techniques: CT and/or 2D x-ray, laser and/or optical profilometry, mechanical cross-sectioning, SEM, EDS, C-SAM, FIB, optical microscopy and de-processing.


• Write technical reports that will clearly and accurately convey analytical results and conclusions.


• Develop and improve methods as needed to analyze a variety of unique materials sets.


• Generate and maintain documentation for lab equipment and processes.


• Interface with a variety of customers.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 2 years relevant engineering experience or an advanced degree and 0 years of experience

Preferred Qualifications:

• Broad knowledge of analytical tools and techniques to interpret data collected from outside laboratories.


• Experience working in a highly regulated environment.


• Strong trouble-shooting and problem-solving skills.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$82,400.00 - $123,600.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
