Tetra Tech is currently seeking a part-time, Lead Lab Technician to work out at our client site in Tulare, CA.

The selected candidate will support a project with the State of California and will work as a lead lab technician related to sample preparation.

The lead lab technician will direct and control the work of all personnel on the project and ensure compliance with this agreement. The lead lab technician will be the contractor's initial point of contact for the Client. Additionally, you will perform all duties listed for lab technicians below.

• Receive samples from state personnel.
• Aliquot samples from original sample tubes into smaller sample tubes.
• Seal sample tubes.
• Proper storage and handling of samples.
• Place printed barcode labels on sample tubes.
• Package samples for shipment by FedEx or a courier, in accordance with DOT and other applicable requirements.

The lead lab technician will operate within a biosafety cabinet and demonstrate safe and efficient lab practices at all times. The lab technician will also dispose of samples when directed to do so by the client.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of one (1) year of experience performing laboratory functions including the tasks listed below (experience as an undergraduate or graduate student may be considered).

• Proficiency in handling and pipetting fluids
• Knowledge of basic lab safety protocols
• Familiarity with required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and its proper use
• Experience using a biosafety cabinet
• Ability to be respirator trained and fit-tested

Degree / Certifications
• High School degree or GED required.
• BS or BA preferred.

Work Environment
• Must be able to wear Tyvek, goggles and nitrile gloves.

The Salary Range for this position is $32.00/hour to $35.00/hour, depending on education, experience, skills, and location.
