The Vice President for International Affairs and the teams of staff in OVPIA's offices are the stewards of international activity across all campuses of Indiana University. We provide strategic leadership and advocacy for all international programs and projects and coordinate the resources necessary to sustain their growth. Within IU Global, the Office of International Admissions resides within the Office of International Services (OIS) and is dedicated to helping international students and scholars achieve their goals. Our staff recruit, admit, and enroll international students from all over the world. We provide social and cultural programming and visa- and immigration-related advising among other assistance to all international students and scholars. Job Summary



Department-Specific Responsibilities


  • Receives and sorts incoming applicant materials via physical mail and other sources; uploads student information and documentation to relevant databases

  • Maintains accurate applicant data in university databases, ensuring integrity of student information throughout the admissions process

  • Completes review of financial documentation for international applicants and admitted students

  • Maintains knowledge of multiple university databases to ensure efficient and accurate processing of student data

  • Responds to email inquiries regarding application data as required

General Responsibilities


  • Responds to inquiries from potential students, parents, high school teachers and counselors, and others regarding policies and procedures involved in applying for admission.

  • Responds to requests for additional information; determines what material best suits the needs of prospective students and mails.

  • Processes incoming applications and supporting documents; codes information sent for data entry; begins the process of creating applicant file.

  • Provides clerical support to department including filing, preparing correspondence, and acting as an informational resource.

  • Maintains databases and files on applicants and high schools; updating as necessary.

  • Generates and mails letters of acceptance, letters of rejection, and other form letters to applicants.

  • Verifies that applicants have paid application fee or have appropriate fee waiver and prepares transaction reports.

  • High school diploma or equivalent (such as HSED or GED)

Working Conditions / Demands



This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

Advertised Salary



$16.00 per hour
