The University of Miami is seeking a full-time Pharmacist to join our team. This position plays a critical role in providing exceptional pharmaceutical care within a healthcare facility environment. The Pharmacist compounds and dispenses prescribed medications, transfers prescriptions, handles incoming physician calls, logs data into applicable systems, and performs drug utilization reviews. This role ensures compliance with legal and quality standards to support the health and well-being of our patients.
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS:
Implements and maintains procedures for the preparation, labeling, and packaging of pharmaceuticals in accordance with policies and legal requirements.
Compounds and dispenses medications as prescribed by healthcare providers, ensuring proper dosages through accurate calculations and measurements.
Provides expert information on drug interactions, side effects, proper dosages, and storage instructions to both healthcare staff and patients.
Reviews and verifies prescriptions for accuracy and suitability.
Monitors prescription trends to enhance patient compliance and prevent misuse or adverse interactions.
Maintains detailed records, including patient profiles, pharmacy files, inventory logs, and registries for controlled substances.
Advises on the selection of medication brands, medical equipment, and other healthcare supplies.
Analyzes and assesses medication identity, strength, and purity to ensure quality and safety.
Adheres to University and departmental policies and procedures to safeguard institutional assets.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS:
Pharm.D. degree from an accredited institution.
Valid State of Florida Pharmacist license.
Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience.

Proficient in data collection, organization, and analysis.
Strong problem-solving skills and sound judgment in decision-making.
Ability to recognize and address a variety of pharmaceutical challenges effectively.
