Position Summary:

We are currently seeking a part-time Research Assistant to assist culturing stem cells and cancer cell lines. The Research Assistant must be able to read and understand protocols, follow directions and record findings. High level of responsibility and commitment is required for this position.


Duties include:
1. Responsible for aseptic handling of cell products. Thaw cells and medium change.
2. Carryout molecular biology techniques including RNA and DNA isolation, and immunofluorescence.
3. Prepare cell culture reagents and media.
4. Receive and document reagents and supplies.
5. Comply with mandated safety protocols, maintain equipment in good working condition, and autoclave goods.
6. Adhere to institutional and regulatory guidelines when handling, recording, and collecting data and samples
7. Good reading and comprehension skills are a necessity in understanding scientific articles and journals related to experiments being conducted.


Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.


Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience:

The candidate for the Research Assistant must master the aseptic technique for tissue culture purposes, be organized and detail oriented, capable of following directions, and maintain detailed notes of activities performed.
