Research Technician 3 - to assist and support scientific investigation to study the role of tumor microenvironment in cancer progression and treatment resistance as directed in the Comprehensive Cancer Center.
Independently conducts assigned experiments
Performs a variety of routine in vivo lab animal experiments including immune cell isolation, cancer cell inoculation, tumor growth measurements and treatment administration
Maintains a mouse colony
Independently conducts in vitro experiments under normoxic and hypoxic conditions including molecular, cellular, and biological research techniques and procedures including immunoblots, ELISA assays, PCR reactions
Sorts and processes tissue samples
Tests and evaluates current procedures
Records, consolidates and assists with analysis of research results
Assists in evaluating validity of data obtained from experimental procedures
Summarizes data for inclusion in grant proposals and manuscripts
Prepares research progress reports
Assists principal investigator with the preparation of publications, manuscripts, articles, posters, and abstracts
Conducts library research on requested topics through researching current literature
Oversees and maintains accurate records of laboratory activities
Assists with training of junior research staff, and undergraduate and graduate students in research methods and equipment operation
Sets up and operates laboratory equipment
Monitors research supply, including specimens, inventory and initiates procurement requests as needed.
Education/Experience:
A Bachelor's degree in chemistry/biology/health sciences is required.
Ability to translate, adapt and apply academic or practical knowledge in the conduct of biological/health science research is required.
Requires successful completion of a background check. Qualified candidates may be requested to complete a pre-employment physical including a drug screen.
