Data Aide 2🔍School of Medicine, Stanford, California, United States📁Information Analytics📅Aug 12, 2024 Post Date📅104214 Requisition #The Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery is seeking interested individuals with an interest in cardiovascular and aortic diseases to help develop and support the evolving Departmental Clinical Research Database and Outcomes group. The Department is dedicated to expanding the clinical and translational research efforts related to the fields of cardiology, cardiovascular surgery, critical care, anesthesia, cardiac and aortic imaging, and translational science, as well as collaborations with other specialty groups. Successful candidates will be experienced in the clinical jargon and terminology of cardiovascular diseases and surgical procedures and have some biomedical research exposure. They will have excellent communication skills. Experience with cardiovascular thoracic research is not necessary but will be a plus. Independent research interests and activities will be encouraged.
Responsibilities will include providing the following support to the Faculty:

    Develop and apply novel clinical data curation techniques and approaches to departmental surgical data.Assist in the redevelopment of the cardiac surgery database, including concatenating prior data sources and working to fill in missing data fields, as well as design a new prospective database for ongoing data collection.Follow data cleaning plansAssisting with the graphical presentation of dataHelping with database development and documentationAuthorship and editing of statistical methodology sections for grant applications, study proposals, and manuscripts as able.Accurately enter data from data sheets or charts into a database and/or manual filing system using specific, standard instructions.Determine appropriate action to be taken for duplicate, inaccurate, or unclear information.Maintain computerized and manual logs and files in accordance with established procedures.Selectively apply a variety of procedures in measuring data, using judgment to determine how standard guidelines apply; may calibrate and use a variety of display, measuring, and/or calculating equipment requiring a few adjustments for proper results.Assist with data collection when needed.Maintain a variety of complex records; suggest or make improvements to record-keeping procedures.Perform audits of own work or that of others to ensure conformance with established procedures.Provide administrative support.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Interest in and experience working with clinical data; interest in reviewing clinical records and experience in doing so for research or quality purposes.The department commonly works with several data sets: OSHPD, STS, Stanford-specific EHR data, legacy clinical Departmental databases dating back to the 1960's, and other administrative clinical data. The successful candidate will have some knowledge of health care data, data management, and assessment. This position will involve also obtaining and working with historic clinical data sets from within the department, as well as reviewing historic paper charts and abstracting information.Good verbal and written communication skills are desired in order to provide feedback to members of the scientific community to facilitate the description of data, effectively provide documentation and specifications to co-workers during research development.


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (REQUIRED):High school diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent and two years of relevant experience or a combination of education and relevant experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (REQUIRED):
    Strong clerical, interpersonal, and basic organizational skills.Good computer skills.Ability to exercise judgment and employ basic reasoning skills.Strong attention to detail.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*:
    Sitting in place at computer for long periods of time with extensive keyboarding/dexterity.Occasionally use a telephone.Rarely writing by hand.

The expected pay range for this position is $31.21 to $35.60 per hour.
