Scope of Position The Outpatient Service Centers include the phlebotomy draw stations located at various locations around the Greater Columbus Area. Sites include but are not limited Ross Heart Hospital, Martha Morehouse Pavilion, Outpatient Care Dublin, Outpatient Care New Albany, Outpatient Care Lewis Center, Outpatient Care Gahanna, Outpatient Care Upper Arlington, Outpatient Care East, and Hilliard, hours may vary per site to accommodate each outpatient location's operational and patient service needs.
Position SummaryThe Laboratory Customer Services Supervisor oversees the daily operations of the laboratory while performing specimen collection (if applicable), Point of Care testing (if applicable), and/or specimen processing under the direction of the Laboratory Customer Services Manager. The Supervisor demonstrates specialized technical expertise necessary to these areas, adjusts staffing schedules and assigns tasks of subordinates to accommodate workload fluctuations, personnel shortages, etc. The Supervisor is directly responsible for the technical quality of all work and for remedial training/communication of staff who perform tasks in these areas. Administrative duties include technical policy and procedure writing and implementation, training of new staff and/or students, documentation of employee competencies, record keeping, Quality Control and Quality Assurance monitoring activities and monthly review thereof, equipment maintenance/documentation review, temperature log review, and maintaining JCAHO, CAP and other regulatory standards. The Lab Customer Services Supervisor is responsible for ordering lab supplies and/or for the oversight of this task if delegated, providing work schedules for all staff, and writing of personnel evaluations for selected individuals. Works rotating weekends and holidays per manager-approved weekend/holiday schedule and/or as operational necessity dictates due to staffing issues were applicable.
Minimum Qualifications
For Hire: High school diploma or GED is required. Phlebotomy or Medical Assistant certification required. At least 4 years of relevant experience is required. 6+ years of relevant experience preferred. Good working knowledge of the principles, operations, and maintenance of lab equipment is required. Strong leadership skills, prior experience in completion of written employee evaluations. Ability to solve both internal and external customer service issues. Supervisory experience preferred. Good working knowledge of large multi-aspect processing area is preferred.
On going: Maintains certification status (if applicable); meets mandatory education and health surveillance requirements. Demonstrates competence in technical, interpersonal, and cognitive skills required meeting essential job functions.
