The Thomas J. Watson College of Engineering and Applied Science at Binghamton University, State University of New York seeks a Coordinator for Advancement and Constituent Relations to work with the Watson College Dean. This position works closely with the Dean of the College, along with other faculty and staff, developing initiatives, cultivating relationships, leveraging alumni engagement, stewardship, and Binghamton Fund for Watson activities to develop a larger, stronger foundation of committed alumni and friends of the College.

The Coordinator will secure support for the academic and advancement goals of Watson College and Binghamton University by coordinating programming and outreach, and managing the Dean's Advancement/Development responsibilities.





The core responsibilities of a successful candidate will include:






Alumni Engagement:
Responsible for working with Watson College alumni to increase alumni participation and support for the school through strong communication, personal interaction, volunteer recruitment, special events and programming. Coordinate with the Director and Assistant Director of Watson Career and Alumni Connections, as well as the Office of Alumni Engagement on the development, implementation and execution of new and existing alumni programs designed to foster a lifelong connection between alumni and Watson, and in the identification, cultivation and engagement of potential volunteers and supporters. The individual will serve as a liaison to Watson Career and Alumni Connections staff to identify high-impact volunteer opportunities for alumni and supporters.






Event Planning:
In collaboration with the Watson Career and Alumni Connections Office, responsible for planning, implementing, and promoting alumni programs that support Watson College's strategic vision, including visits by donors, alumni and friends of the college. Coordinates with Binghamton University's Advancement team and the Watson Career and Alumni Connections Office.






Board Management:
Serves as the liaison to the college-wide boards, especially the Watson Advisory Board and the NY Metro Advisory Board. Lead and support the NY Metro Advisory Board to develop annual goals and metrics for their activities to support the College's mission, goals and objectives, and ensure the committee reaches its full potential as a volunteer organization. Provide staff support for the regular meetings of the Advisory Boards as it relates to philanthropy, with special emphasis on those activities or subcommittees that focus primarily on philanthropy or alumni engagement.






Watson College Dean's Development:
Assist in managing, scheduling, and prioritizing the dean's donor and alumni advancement outreach. Play an active role in growing donors to the college and in donor stewardship:





  • Manage, schedule and prioritize the work of the Watson Dean for donor and alumni advancement and engagement.

  • Work closely with the Advancement team members to schedule meetings with prospects, organize travel, secure background information and draft talking points for meetings, events, dedications, etc.

  • Partner with Binghamton Fund staff to ensure the College, activities and priorities are well represented in the solicitation of students, parents, and alumni to help increase support. Monitor monthly gift reports in giving and engage and thank new supporters as appropriate.






Communications:
Works with the Watson College communications team to increase visibility and recognition of the college including donor and alumni outreach, assisting with internal and external messaging, including print, social and digital media.






Requirements:




Visa sponsorship is not available for this position





  • Bachelor's degree in business, communications or a related field

  • Minimum of 5 years professional experience in a related field

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, and attention to detail

  • Must be able to work collaboratively and effectively with other Watson College faculty, staff, alumni and students, and university gift officers and development personnel

  • Must be highly motivated, results-driven, and willing to take initiative

  • Commitment to contributing to an inclusive environment

  • Strategic, creative, and analytical thinking skills; ability to create and implement a strategic plan

  • Ability to work weekends and evening hours

  • Significant requirement to travel within the region, state, country, and perhaps internationally




Preferred:





  • Master's Degree

  • Prior experience in higher education, constituent relations, and/or advancement/alumni engagement
