(Contingent upon available funding): 20.00 - 20.00, Hourly Work Schedule: Shift work - Varies Faculty Appt Period: Job Summary: The Police Officer- OSU Tulsa position is an essential role of the campus community consisting of the following:1. Law Enforcement - Protects lives and property through the utilization of modern law enforcement techniques and procedures to better provide a safe and orderly educational environment.2. Crime Prevention/Safety Enhancement - Engaged in a proactive, rather than a reactive, mode of public safety responsibilities in an effort to prevent crimes or hazardous activities from being committed, and takes actions to reduce the risks of accidents on campus by monitoring potential problems.3. Public Service/Public Relations - Provides a public service by assisting faculty, staff, students, and visitors in their multitude of daily activities on the university campus.4. Maintains Educational Environment - Provides a regulatory function through the enforcement of university rules and regulations, in addition to state criminal and traffic laws.5. The OSU-Tulsa Campus Police Officer exists to serve and protect the community of OSU and is expected to patrol and respond to calls for services of law enforcement.6. OSU Tulsa Officers are required to work at both the OSU Tulsa and OSU Stillwater campuses as needed.
Shift work and mandatory overtime is required. Expected to work any hours and any days as needed to fulfill the department mission May require travel to complete investigations or attend professional schools, seminars, or training. Officers will provide/gain information, provide assistance, and have law enforcement contact on a daily basis with OSU students, staff, and administration, as well as off-campus agencies, groups, businesses, parents, applicants, etc.
There is exposure to physical danger, such as: 1. Dangerous criminal elements 2. Arrest situations 3. Mentally deranged persons 4. Traffic accidents 5. Unruly crowds 6. May be exposed to disease or hazardous materials during emergency responses 7. Must often work outside in any weather and often in other unpleasant and/or hazardous conditions Special Instructions to Applicants Applicants will first complete and submit an Oklahoma State University online employment application. OSU Police will then contact applicants to participate in a variety of tests (written, physical agility, committee review, background investigation, MMPI, medical screening, polygraph) before final selections are made.
