Through its athletic programs, the University seeks to unite alumni, faculty, administration and students in a common shared experience. The governing unit within the Department of Athletics is the Director's Office, which is the administrative office and clearinghouse for the entire Department of Athletics, and promotes the department's guiding principle of educating and inspiring through athletics. This unit provides support to administrators, coaches, staff members and student-athletes in order to provide and promote a premier intercollegiate athletic program for The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The Department of Athletics is a highly visible public relations arm of The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, with statewide, national and international recognition.
The Deputy Athletics Director/Chief Revenue Officer (CRO) for the Department of Athletics at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is responsible for overseeing and optimizing revenue-generating operations and growth strategies through various revenue streams amid transformational changes in college athletics. Carolina Athletics is transforming its approach to revenue growth, and this role represents a unique opportunity to set strategy and establish an innovative approach to sourcing, cultivating and securing a diverse and reliable portfolio. The CRO will take a comprehensive and innovative approach to harnessing and maximizing existing revenue streams while pursuing and unlocking potential new avenues and opportunities across multiple revenue producing sources to better support our student-athletes. This will be accomplished through strategic vision and leadership in revenue generation, successful negotiation of contracts, strategic planning, goal setting, fundraising, community engagement and sport program oversight. This position works closely with the Director of Athletics and the Athletics Executive Team and is at the center of all revenue-related activities.
Minimum of bachelor's degree required (or foreign degree equivalent) with at least five years of experience in a revenue- generation role, with experience in corporate sponsorship, partnership development, with a proven ability to conduct market analysis and implement strategies that drive successful revenue growth.

Deep understanding of the sports landscape, including fluency in the principles and practices of revenue generation and management, sales and marketing and other related fields within the sports industry. Ability to direct and supervise a team to accomplish desired goals. Demonstrated knowledge of contracts, memorandum and agreements related to athletic partnership agreements. Strong computer skills and related software capabilities.
A Master's degree and ten years of experience are preferred.
Successful candidate must possess outstanding leadership capacity and demonstrated skills in revenue generation, ability to read and inform contracts, superior negotiation skills, team building, collaboration, communication, strategic planning, customer service and sales, preferably in a sports or university setting. Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills. Strong presentation skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to meet established deadlines and work effectively with diverse groups of internal and external constituents.
Working knowledge of NCAA rules and policies. Ability to travel as needed; Ability to work evenings and weekend hours as required.
This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority in accordance with the Clery Act. This position will be required to report Clery crimes to the Clery Compliance Manager and complete annual training about reporting responsibilities.
