IT Business Analyst 2🔍Vice Provost for Student Affairs, Redwood City, California, United StatesNew📁Information Technology Services📅1 day ago Post Date📅105521 Requisition #JOB PURPOSE:The Department of Student Information Systems (SIS) at Stanford University supports the primary Student Information System, PeopleSoft, along with its portal, AXESS, and various SAS solutions that integrate with our SIS. Our team consists of six analysts and three developers who manage all business processes for the Central Office of the Registrar, Graduate Admissions, Curriculum, Records, Bechtel, Mind Over Money, and Student Financial Systems. We are responsible for the enhancements, maintenance, and patch updates of our Student Information System and its supporting systems.We are looking for a Business Systems Analyst for a 1 year fixed-term position to support the build of our Navigator web application. This role will work closely with various stakeholders to understand their needs and document their requirements. We are looking for an experienced business analyst who will understand our various internal and SAAS API's and map the data to our proprietary datalake.
CORE DUTIES:
Translate business processes into system requirements and/or development of systems solutions. Work with the Navigator sponsors and subject matter experts to define requirements for the different stages of the Navigator project. Document system requirements for the software development team.Analyze new business requirements, assist with feasibility of enhancement requests, system functionality, current system use and user needs. Responsible for working with functional users, UI/UX team and sponsors to identify needs for all the Navigator products, return on investment and usability for the students. BA will define needed enhancements or process improvements to the development team or ui/ux team for updates or documentation updates.Specify functional analysis and design and work with developers and analysts to recommend solutions and resolve system issues. Work with the UI/UX team and decipher usability testing to determine any needed work in the current design. Verify that products work well with the lifecylce of a student/faculty prior to design and deployment.Review, research and evaluate software to determine its usefulness and appropriateness as related to existing or proposed business systems; assist or develop preliminary and detailed system design documentation. Identify business solutions needs necessary to enhance development or usability for students.Perform testing of new systems, upgrades and patching of existing systems; plan, conduct and document results of testing.Develop instructional materials, training and job aids.Advise users requiring assistance in solving complex problems or issues regarding management and business systems. Responsible for monitoring and working the service now queue of all navigator tickets. Identify issues that need resolution or explaining to users any errors in processing.Analyze data and provide data sets to users for analysis. May include development of operational and analytical reports for end users. Responsible for coordinating testing with functional and business users. This will include preparing test scripts, timelines and recording identified issues requiring development changes or updates.Liaise with external vendors or partners in support of business systems, which may include system development, implementation and/or operations.Coordinate the implementation of new or modified business systems.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:Education & Experience:Bachelor's degree and five years relevant experience or a combination of education and relevant experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of computer system capabilities, business processes, and workflow.Experience with enterprise applications and understanding of database driven applications.Strong understanding of the software development life cycle.Knowledge of principles and techniques used in conducting management studies and in systems analysis.Current knowledge of rapidly changing computer technology.Skill in conducting interviews and facilitating group meetings.Skill in developing and conducting training programs.Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, including the ability to bridge functional and technical resources by communicating effectively with individuals of varying systems expertise and business needs.Strong listening, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.Ability to design and document complex business systems.Proven problem solving and analytical thinking and ability to approach problems logically and systematically.
Technical Proficiencies:
Proficient with SQL. Experienced with relational database and SAAS solutions.Experience with API data mapping and integration is necessary.Knowledge of Peoplesoft Campus solutions is preferred.Familiarity with Snowflake, Golden, Oracle SQL builder, HTML, Peoplesoft Query or other report writers is recommended.
The expected pay range for this position is $119,544 to $136,000 per annum. Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for a position. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location and external market pay for comparable jobs.
