Slalom is eager for a qualified UX/UI Design Leader to join our Chicago Experience Design (XD) practice. We're looking for strategists, makers, collaborators, and thought partners. The XD team works across multiple disciplines, industries, and accounts, as well as with numerous other Slalom capabilities. Our people need to quickly gain an understanding of clients' businesses, forge meaningful connections, and show credibility with strong expertise. This role is at the Principal or Senior Principal level.

This role must be located within a commutable distance to our downtown Chicago office.
What you'll do:
Help lead the XD practice, defining strategic offerings and approaches to partnering across teams, capabilities, accounts, and industries
Directly manage/monitor the performance of select XD team members-bringing a commitment to employee growth and career development
Develop a clear understanding of how XD fits within the broader market Business Advisory Services (BAS) operating model, and, organizational solution portfolio
Be able to articulate your design process, and create technical deliverables, such as wireframes, clickable prototypes, design systems, pattern libraries, interface flows, site maps, user and A/B testing assets
Collaborate with clients and Slalom leads to design a variety of digital experiences, web interfaces, mobile applications, and platform solutions-considering things like information architecture, features and functionality, user interactions, and visual design
Properly scope UX/UI design projects and build effective delivery teams
Show executive presence and polish in guiding clients through XD methodologies, recommendations, or best practices
Work with sales and leadership teams to identify new client and project opportunities, develop pursuit resources, and craft pitches and presentations
Adopt an agile mindset, and be able to flex between projects, sales pursuits, people leadership activities, and practice leadership responsibilities
10+ years of experience, particularly with a background in UX/UI design
Consulting or agency experience preferred, with the ability to lead projects, sales pursuits, and practice teams
Deep experience in working with technical strategists, business leaders, architects, and developers
Excellent communication skills
Proficiency in UX design and dev-ready tools, such as Figma, Adobe CC, Sketch, InVision, and Zepelin
Proficiency in communication and collaboration tools, such as Microsoft Office, Miro, and Mural
Exposure to working with CRM technology (i.e. Salesforce) or other sales management/client tracking tools
Breadth of experience along the Experience Design spectrum, with the ability to wear multiple hats and regularly shift focus between:
Service design activities-conduct light research, create personas, develop journey maps and blueprints
Digital delivery-produce and iterate on wireframes, process flows, prototypes, and design system features
Sales and business growth
Practice leadership and market strategy
Interest in designing and using applicable emerging technologies (such as Gen AI, Digital Twins, and Conversational AI)
A human-first mentality with a passion for learning
Your own unique perspective on solving difficult problems and creating meaningful solutions for a diverse pool of people

Compensation and Benefits

Slalom is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. For this position, the base salary pay range is $122,000 to $189,000 and the targeted base salary range is $145,000 to $155,000. In addition, individuals may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. Actual compensation will depend upon an individual's skills, experience, qualifications, location, and other relevant factors. The salary pay range is subject to change and may be modified at any time.
