PRIMARY FUNCTION:
This position is responsible for the management of all electricians (those employed by the company as well as sub-contractors). This role will be responsible for the dispatch & oversight of electricians forementioned and projects to foster a safe and cost-effective solution for the company's electrical needs. This person will report directly to the Operational Services Manager.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Assures direct reports are educated in the most current safety principles related to electricity; and leads his/her team in a manner that promotes the safety initiatives of the company and industry.
Provide guidance to electricians in the repair, maintenance, and installation of electrical and control systems including daily process problem solving and measurement activities that enable continuous plant operations.
Ensure the operational viability of the plant by evaluating and maintaining the proper functioning of all electrical and control systems;
Plans, designs, and coordinates corrective maintenance projects including developing timelines and accurate cost estimates to work on projects which have the highest priority to the electrical department and the plant and will maximize the availability of the plant equipment.;
Provide problem solving and root cause analysis, component design, preparation of contract documents and scopes of work, planning, coordinating, and scheduling work required, supervision of contractors, ordering of and assuring proper and timely delivery of materials to ensure project efficiency and success.
Execution of these specific duties will be achieved through the following:
Estimate and manage budgeted project costs and maintain records of the costs to contribute to the cost-efficient operation of the plant.
Review design of electrical installations and be responsible for maintenance to provide for continuous availability for operations.
In conjunction with Purchasing personnel, prepare maintenance and construction contracts to ensure contracted work meets specifications and cost-containment goals.
Establish and maintain communication with suppliers, contractors, and engineering firms outside of the company as well as with other technical plant personnel to ensure the necessary components are in place to complete maintenance projects in a timely, cost-effective, and efficient manner.
Provides direct supervision of contractors assigned to projects to ensure the completion of the work according to the contract specifications and costs.
Develops and monitors condition-based electrical maintenance programs including thermography analysis, equipment troubleshooting and trending, vibration analysis, ground testing and laser alignment; performs routine site inspections that maintains the electrical components according to manufacturer recommendations (connections, oiling, and cleanliness of components).
Trains electrical maintenance personnel on use of condition-based maintenance procedures, techniques, and technologies.
Participate in the daily coordination meeting to review corrective work orders, inspection reports and incidents and assist in the planning of maintenance work;
Assist in the successful completion of projects by coordinating electrical plant projects and shutdowns with overall large capital projects directed by HTC personnel.
Reviews annual power usage for each site in order to identify production losses due to electrical systems.
POSITION REQIREMENTS CONTINUED:
Coordinate and implement all electrical system upgrades and changes in accordance with project plans and overall plant operational goals;
Direction of administrative staff to ensure correct information is collected, analyzed, reported, and stored;
Ensure accurate and timely information is being delivered to other managers;
Identify immediate areas of concern;
Strong ability to manage people and analyze numbers;
Highly organized with strong time and process management skills; and
All other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or electrical engineering technology is preferred but not required, or a combination of education and experience.
Minimum 3 years professional experience in the field of electrical engineering and project management.
Minimum 2 years' experience in providing support for heavy manufacturing, aggregate, ready-mix and asphalt manufacturing preferred.
2 or more years' experience managing or supervising others
Familiarity with Microsoft Office products including MS Excel, Word, Access, and Project
Fluent with NEC, NFPA, ISA, etc.
Good familiarity with the operation and maintenance of common electrical equipment such as power distribution system, breakers, high voltage system, air condition and pressurization systems, variable speed medium voltage drives/motors, transformers, switchgear, MCC equipment and power monitoring and communication systems.
Ability to thoroughly understand all system analytical studies including short circuit, coordination, load flow, motor starting and arc flash.
Understanding of the justification process for projects including EVA, IRR, NPV
Understanding of contractual matters (negotiation and legal aspects)
Good investment market pricing knowledge and cost awareness;
Demonstrated experience in leadership and project management, problem solving and creativity, strategic thinking, and decision making;
Pass pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check;
Pass a pre-employment "Fit for Work" physical;
Be able to provide valid documentation for the I-9 Immigration document;
Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors and the general public at all times;
Report to work at the designated start time;
Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required;
Be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary;
Be able to work overtime when required;
Maintain current driver's license that meets state requirements;
Have a Motor Vehicle Record that meets company standards;
Strictly adhere to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook;
Have the willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required;
Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and production areas as stated by OSHA and / or MSHA;
Be at least age 18 years of age due to nature of working environment; and
Previous related experience in construction field is preferred.
