The Senior Analyst, Indirect Tax Compliance will primarily assist with Best Buy's state and local sales, use, and excise tax compliance for all Best Buy companies and subsidiaries. The position will support the timely filing and payment of sales, use, excise, property, and miscellaneous tax returns. Professional traits of a successful Sr. Analyst, Indirect Tax Compliance include being a team player, self-motivated, investigative, able to multi-task, focused on improving processes, able to grasp new concepts quickly, and is comfortable dealing with both internal and external customers in a fast-paced environment.
This role is hybrid, which means you will work some days on site at a Best Buy location and some days virtually from home or another non-Best Buy location. The specific work arrangements vary by role and team. The recruiter or hiring manager will provide more details during the hiring process. What you'll doCollect and analyze sales, use, excise, and property tax data for all Best Buy companies and subsidiariesAnalyze and reconcile sales, use, excise, and other tax accountsAssist with federal excise tax compliance include Ozone Depleting Chemicals, Foreign Insurance, and Patient-Centered Outcomes Research FeeOwn the review of sales and use tax returns as required in all jurisdictionsOversee the preparation and filing of various sales, use, excise, and fee returnsCoordinate with outsourcing partner to timely respond to sales and use tax noticesPrepare compliance documentation and correspondenceCommunicate with state and local tax authoritiesProvide information to and respond to questions from internal groups such as Tax audit, Treasury, Finance, Controllership, and Corporate Real EstatePrepare budgets, forecasts, and models for various sales, use, and excise tax accountsAssist with value added tax and property tax compliance as neededLiaison with internal cross-functional teams to develop integrated compliance reporting to facilitate sales and use tax reporting processesBasic Qualifications3 years of work experience in an Accounting, Finance, Tax or related roleIntermediate proficiency with tax principles in one or more areas of taxation (e.g., sales, use, value-added taxes, etc.)Basic proficiency with accounting concepts and practicesBachelor's degree in accounting, finance, economics, business, or related disciplinePreferred QualificationsBasic proficiency working with tax software (i.e. Vertex, OneSource, Taxware, Avalara)Proficiency working with Microsoft Office Excel, Access, Word, OutlookProficiency demonstrating business and financial acumenKnowledge of Alteryx or other similar software programsExperience in accounting or sales, use, and excise tax within a retail organization CPA or CMI designation What is in it for you
