Position Overview
The Mechanical Engineering (ME) Department at the University of North Texas (UNT) seeks candidates for a tenure-track faculty opening with a preferred start date of Fall 2025 at the Assistant or Associate Professor level with a research focus on mechanics of materials aiding in the design and optimization of advanced manufacturing processes to support the continued growth of the Mechanical Engineering Department. This position emphasizes teaching, research, and service, with a workload distribution of 40% teaching, 40% research and 20% service. Responsibilities include teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, recruiting and supervising graduate students, developing an actively funded research program of the highest quality and impact, and service to the university and the professional community.
Minimum Qualifications
All applicants must have a Doctoral Degree in Mechanical Engineering or another closely related field.
Candidates seeking appointment at the Associate Professor rank should have a sustained record of scholarship and external research funding, successful mentoring of junior faculty, undergraduate and graduate students, and recognized service activities. Must meet UNT's criteria for tenure.
Preferred Qualifications
1. Postdoctoral research experience or equivalent industry experience.
2. Experience securing external funding for research projects.
3. Interest in contributing to emerging areas such as sustainable manufacturing, additive manufacturing, AI-driven manufacturing, or advanced materials for energy applications.
